3 stars because it’s so expensive. The food is good, I’ll give them that. And I’ve had Mexican food from everywhere. Rice and beans were OK. Beans needed some salt. Surf and turf burrito was good, I’d buy it again… Maybe. Tres Amigos taco platter was pretty good too. All the flavor you want is there, but I cannot justify the price. If you’re a tourist, you can spend all the money you want. I think they get away with it because of the prime location. But if this place was located anywhere else, they’d go out of business.

There is definitely better Mexican food in Gaslamp Quarter, but this worked for a big group, needing shareable nachos, quesadilla and margaritas. Don’t get the mahi mahi fish bowl. It was bland

I got the fish taco sampler and it was ok. Not sure if it was the Mahi Mahi or the cod that was really good, but the salmon wasn’t that good. They’ve got a nice little patio where I sat and had my meal with some live music.

I think they changed the restaurant name as “Tin Fish”…?

The only reason why I didn’t give it five stars is because of the price. Almost $20 for a burrito. It was a decent size. I ate half of it and took the rest with me to go to eat at the game later.I got the California burrito which I never ordered California burritos but it was either that or shrimp or fish. It was delicious! I’m very picky about the quality of meat and it was very lean no fat or gristle whatsoever. I thought the flavor was good just a hint of heat. It was our first time there. We also enjoyed a guy playing the guitar. It’s very conveniently located when you take the trolley downtown Right next to the ballpark. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was some kind of little girls dance competition or something So it was completely packed We had to stand in order to eat our food but it was a beautiful day so we didn’t mind. As I went to use a restroom I noticed a cool little bar in the back. Next time we’ll try out the bar and see how the drinks are.

I thoroughly enjoyed my blackened white fish bowl, which was incredibly delicious. This was my inaugural visit to the restaurant, and I must say it left a positive impression. The location is particularly convenient, situated in the Gaslamp district, right across from the Convention Center and in close proximity to the trolley station.

I seldom write a negative review but I just ate the worst fish tacos I’ve ever had. It was a trio of 3 different fish tacos. One fish tasted spoiled. The other two were just unseasoned. All three were smothered in this nasty Velveeta type queso. I sent the spoiled one back and they replaced with chicken tacos. Those were okay. No cheese.

Food options looked better for meat eaters, they had one veggie option. I ordered a fried avacado taco, no dairy. Can not confirm or deny if it was cooked in a meat free frier. It was $7.00 dollars for (1) small street taco with (1) SINGLE SMALL INDIVIDUAL SLICE of AVACADO PER TACO, a few sprigs of shredded cabbage and some diced tomatoes, edible but hard pass! The fries were better, I recommend sticking with fries! No vegan options. Beers were $9.00 for a small. The bathrooms were pretty fricken bad! But were they ever great?. Three of us tried on 3 separate trips tried to alert staff mgmt. that one of the two toilets wouldn’t flush and was being filled with TP. They did not seem interested. One of our friends got threatened to be kicked out by a member of the service staff who was upset about the line of people waiting for the restroom. The sewage backups were blamed on the public sewer line connection! Great location, don’t come hungry!

Food was decent, but expensive. I got much better fish tacos for almost half the price at a place down the road. Went twice and the service was great the first time, but the bartender the second time was pretty rude. The place also has weird hours that don’t necessarily match the hours posted online.

Baja Rick’s used to be known as The Tin Fish, a favorite eatery of mine since 2006. I’m happy to report that not much has changed and it is still a great food destination, especially during SDCC. The fish and chips are great and so are the burgers! I wish i remembered her name, but there is a girl working the counter who has a smile so amazing it will brighten your day! Thanks again to her! She knows who she is lol
