As the name states, it’s authentic. Great food and atmosphere! Portions are good so encourage sharing. We felt rushed by our server although she was friendly. Recommend the Shrimp Diablo and Beef Burrito both of which we had. A must try if you haven’t been.

Took my mother there for her birthday. I had reserved a table for 4 people, on the day of. My mother had an unexpected visitor, so I gave them a call and they were able to accommodate us and were very understanding when I explained the situation. When we got there, we were seated right away, our waitress was very nice. The place is a little pricey but my family seemed to enjoy the atmosphere and the food. They were very happy when we left. Highly recommend.

After being seated for 15 minutes and not being greeted or even bringing a water, we went to hostess and asked if someone could take our order. A waitress came and asked what we wanted. Didn’t introduce herself or asked what we wanted to drink or offer appetizers. We placed our order. She did not followup with our table. Paid tab and we left. Food is good but service is awful.

Good food, great desserts.(4 stars). Ridiculously over priced but it is Lake Forest. Service (3 stars) was marginal because our server kept getting pulled away to deal with unhappy pick-up customers. Desserts and atmosphere make it worth the visit. Would have rated 3.5 over all if I could have. If you live or study locally it beats dealing with the insanity and traffic near Hawthorn mall.

It was an OK experience and food was alright. I give this location a 4 as they brought me a cheese enchilada when I ordered one with crabmeat originally. My waitress noticed and got me the one I ordered but had to wait a bit. Also during the meal, I had to wait for my water glass to be refilled and even then I had to ask but I was already done with my meal. They do take reservations which was nice.

2nd time there and 2nd time disappointed, only went cause we were given a gift card. The chips stink. The salsa is super plain and has no consistency. The portions are small and also tasteless. I get trying to be fun and creative with the rice and beans but don’t provide something worse than traditional rice and beans. The desert was store bought.

Update- 5 years later: We visited Authentico on Cinco de Mayo with our teenage sons. We were seated within 20 mins and given menus. The menu features a wide variety of Mexican dishes, including tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and fajitas. We ordered a variety of dishes, and everything was delicious. The tacos were made with fresh, flavorful ingredients, and the carne asada con mole was perfectly cooked. We also enjoyed the margaritas, which were made with fresh lime juice, mango, and tequila.

Overall, a good dining experience. The atmosphere was moderate, but not too loud for a busy Friday night. The salsas with the chips are a bit mild, but okay. The entrees are a fair size and the prices aren’t bad. Service was friendly and quick. Minor complaints, but overall… somewhere that I would definitely go back to!
