While the service is hit or miss, the owner takes a personal role in greeting and seeing to guests, the food we have had is good, but not excellent. This restaurant, housed in a historical building, is unique and tries to seem classy, but when you look closely it’s more tacky. I have always liked my meals, but I do find it to be slightly bland and underwhelming. I think the recipes cater an older crowd, just like the decor. We’ve had a little bit of everything off the menu and it all falls just a tad short of being excellent. The Sister Schubert rolls annoy me. I think that they should make their rolls in house and not cut corners; but I’m a bread lover and these rolls are my least favorite.

I am only giving it a 4 on the food, because my food was not cooked correctly, and if I send anything back… it just stays back. It just so happened to be a special occasion, it was our first time there, and they way under cooked my steak. I understood the logic of better to be under than over; however, I’ve seen the movie “Waiting” and I don’t send ANYTHING BACK. Lol. They did try to make it right, but the rest of the food was good. The staff was great, as well was management. We will be back, it is a bit of a drive, so it will be a while. Hopefully I can update the review to all 5 stars.

We love Angela’s. Having a wonderful, welcome place to go in the historic Chilton House is a treat. The building is beautiful and looks over the Coal River, the food is tasty, and the drinks are generously poured. Angela herself will recognize your family and treat you like her own. She still remembers my son’s order from 9 years ago! The baked steak is my favorite. It’s such a pain to make at home, and Angela’s tastes just like home!

The food was really a hit or miss. Wasn’t too impressed. My waitress was very nice and super kind, but the food was just off a little bit. With almost every meal it seemed like something was missing or it tasted weird, except the house salad. That was perfect!

Great food and even better service. The crab dip was delicious and our entrees (I had the NY strip, she had the Chicken alfredo) were great as well. Hamilton took great care of us and his knowledge of the menu helped us make our decisions. We will definitely be back!

We enjoyed dinner with a cozy view of the river. Try the perfect potatoes au grautin. The fried mozzarella sticks were delicious. The “brownie” was delicious but much more like a delicate cake that flaked and crumbled very easily. They served Sister Schubert’s rolls. Love the carafes so our glasses are always full. If you order a steak, they are best at ribeyes but the other cuts were under cooked or over cooked and dry. One of the best things about this restaurant is the very interesting historical building. I wish we could tour the whole place. We enjoyed the view of the river and the boats. We are looking forward to coming back for the seafood.

First time here for me. My better half came earlier to dine with her sisters. I had the crab stuffed flounder (Whitefish). With sauted mushrooms and sugar snap peas, and rice. A most delicious, well made dish. She had the baked steak last time and a chicken Caesars salad tonight. Both well made and plentiful. Service is impeccable. Tonight was Erin, who was attentive and helpful. We started with a nice glass of wine and a spot-on made Dirty Martini by Angela herself. The setting is wonderful in this 1857 historic house overlooking the river. Three different dining rooms. Parking is plentiful and prices afordable. We love this restaurant and plan on coming back. Try it….I’m sure you’ll feel the same.

I have mixed feelings about this review. For this restaurant to have 4.4 stars I feel like was a bit misleading. Tonight could’ve been an off night but I’m not sure I would go back. We were there for an anniversary, there was 6 of us. We ordered drinks then appetizers. Drinks came. We ordered food. Salads came and almost immediately after our food came. When we asked about the apps, she said she was told they were already brought to us. After we said they weren’t she finally convinced someone to make them and they were brought out after we were almost done with our meal. One friends ribeye was so tough, most of it ended up in the napkin. I ordered the seafood platter which wasn’t bad, but stay away from the coleslaw. My husband ordered the filet, medium rare, it came out rare, almost raw. So we boxed up what was very rare to finish cooking at home. Our waitress was sweet. They added gratuity and on top of that added a 3.5% charge for using a credit card. What place does that nowadays?? So our bill for 2 of us after 2 adult drinks, 2 entrees, tax, gratuity & that ridiculous card charge was $92!! We didn’t even order an app! We did witness a man peeing off a boat passing by, so maybe the extra charge is for dinner and a show ♀️
