Land Yacht IPA™, IPA – American 7.3% ABV, 75 IBU, Armadillo Ale Works™, Denton, TX

Mosaic IPA, IPA – American 8.6% ABV, 85 IBU, Community Beer Company, Dallas, TX
This is not your average IPA. From the incredible nose, to the amazing finish, this IPA is one that both session drinkers and beer nerds alike will love. We’re full on board the hopwagon with this big American-style IPA. However, it is not designed to blow your head off with overpowering hop bitterness. Instead, Mosaic IPA is an extremely well-balanced brew that showcases its unique hop aroma and flavor. This beer gets its name from a new hop variety named “Mosaic, ” which is predominantly where the immense, raw hop aroma and flavor is derived. Mosaic IPA has a noticeable malt backbone to help soften the high level of hop bitterness and flavor, while keeping the body fairly light. The word “Mosaic” is also representative of the diverse range of individuals that make up our community. It’s perfect in every way!.
$5.00
Dallas Blonde, Blonde Ale 5.2% ABV, 23 IBU, Deep Ellum Brewing Company, Dallas, TX

This seductress is like dessert in a glass. It pours with a thick milk chocolate head. Chocolate and caramel malt give it a complex and rich body. Lower carbonation gives the beer a silky mouthfeel. She’s voluptuous and will sneak up on you with soft alcohol warmth. Take your time with her and she’ll reward you. Food Pairing: Chocolate and decadent sweet desserts.

Velvet Hammer, Red Ale – Imperial / Double 9% ABV, 85 IBU, Peticolas Brewing Company, Dallas, TX
A tribute to our favorite Brewmaster, Greg Matthews, the Velvet Hammer appears as a dark, ruby reddish-brown ale beneath a sheath of protective off-white foam. It is malt-forward with elements of caramel and the sweetness of light brown sugar, balanced nicely by a combination of floral hops and a noticeable alcohol bite. It’s a sturdy brew with a smooth character which belies both an inner strength and a slightly full body, along with a moderate bitterness to round out the taste.

This is a great “go-to” place right after a rough day at the office or just want to catch up with colleagues. This place offers great food at reasonable prices. I enjoy having a beer now and then at this particular place. The fried pickles are the best. It also helps when the staff are super friendly!

Six of us went for lunch after an event at UTD…after deciding and ordering, the only waitress disappeared, coming back to tell us that half our orders were not available…so no beer cheese sauce, no shrimp, no pretzel bites. Reordered…Beer came and mine was flat. Next thing we see some guy at the beer station filling up buckets of beer and dumping them. Only a few beers available. Food staggered out, two at a time. By the time the last order came..we were mostly done. And it was mostly apps! No explanation or apology offered…very strange!

This place is very generous with their serving size! My first visit here and I basically got to eat it twice that day (leftovers for dinner). The chicken tenders were a bit on the salty side and it had a slight burnt taste, but rocked it on the juiciness. I asked for some honey to offset the saltiness, and it worked really well. I will come try other items on their menu another time!

Disappointed. This place was great pre-pandemic (a very nice alternative to northside). Since then, the hours are not really suitable for a bar. I keep checking in to see if things have returned, but it doesn’t seem likely anymore.

Avoid. Items on menu not available. Beer stand oxidized. They lead you via qr code to an untappd beer menu but don’t pay untappd so there’s no beer menu. Forgot to put in my order

Last year the guy running the place was awesome. Whatever students they’ve hired this year are clearly not cut out for anything outside a classroom. They never get your order right which sucks since the Taproom was the only legit burger place on campus. Also what’s with the weird hours? A bar that closes at 4pm and isn’t open on the weekends is just sad.

Good food and great service. Pay after you eat. Nothing gave me food poisoning so far and if I feel very hungry, I grab a bite because it isn’t that far.
