In my hunt for Indian restaurants after recently relocating to California, one of my friends recommended Amaravathi Restaurant. It’s a terrific place to eat authentic Indian food, and in particular, the taste, cleanliness, and customer service were excellent. It’s also a great place to eat non-vegetarian appetizers and biryanis, as well as garlic naan, panner 555, and shrimp ghee roast, which were all excellent.

I ordered Veggie biryani through Grubhub on a weekday and ended up with a white rice bowl. I guess the cost of the white rice bowl is the same as the biryani. 🙂 What a joke. When I called Amaravathi, they acknowledged they did not have Biryani, so they mixed some curry and white rice and sold you as a biryani. I asked them why they did not call me back, and all they said to me was that it was closing time and they just wanted to throw some food at me. They have no concept of responsibility or customer service as long as they make money. I have been a customer of these guys for many years and have to take my business elsewhere.

We went on a Friday lunch buffet. There were so little food available. We thought they will refill the foods in time but they did not. Every item was cold and the spread was not much as well. We checked the chicken curry and there were no chicken in it. We asked for it and one person came with a small to go container and put some chicken on it. Same was with tandoori chicken and sweet dish. We gave our feedback at the counter and that person was indifferent. Not going back to this buffet again.

We dined in with the family and with a toddler later in the night while they were almost about to close for the night. They still welcomed us and served the best. Their Mirchi Bajji briyani, was so exquisite that i have not tasted anywhere else before.

I went there for friday buffet which was opened after a month break. It was one of the best south indian buffets in that area. Ambience was good, staff were attentive, refilling was fast, food was always hot in the buffet. Good options for starters to deserts. Veg and non veg friendly buffet. It was totally worth the money. I would highly recommend to give it a try.

I came for the buffet last week and I had a blast. The tandoor chicken and the gongura mutton were awesome. Bhendi fry and the mango dal and bajji biryani in the veg section were truly delicious. Also had payasam(Kheer) it was good. They constantly filled the buffet and the food was hot till the end. I’m going to be a regular from now on.They also had discounts if there are more than 4 people in group.

Friday evening we ordered Amaravati special chicken biryani and Mughali paneer biryani. Both were pathetic and served cold. The chicken biryani served was old and when complained about it no one cared. Please say your self from going to this unwelcoming place and make sure to read the reviews.
