I will be writing a short review. My wife and where looking for a Mexican food restaurant with the old traditions, great tasting food with great portions. We found it. From 1 to 10, 10 being extremely satisfied. Agreed upon arrival,10. Cleanliness,10. Prompt service,10. Knowledge of daily specials and suggestions,10. Attentive with coffee,10. Portion mug for coffee,10. Food freshness and taste,10. Prices,10. We have been to other restaurants where the only think you get is two things in your plate, eggs and beans. Here at Alonso’s you get 3 things. Eggs, beans, and potatoes. Plus, here’s the kicker, one and a half toasted biscuit. Will we return, 10. If you are looking to get your money worth, great service and great taste, then this place is for you.

Excellent restaurant!! GREAT food, GREAT service and GREAT overall experience. It’s definitely our go-to Mexican Restaurant! The chilaquiles are AMAZING, crunchy and flavorful! The Picadas Veracruzanas taste JUST like in Veracruz, Mex. Never tasted anything more authentic, definitely a must try. The service is amazing, great waiters/waitresses, the owner is very welcoming.. they truly make you feel at home. 10/10 ⭐️

The food was good. The service was great. There really is nothing bad to say about this restaurant. But then again, nothing really stands out. In the Rio Grande Valley, because we have so many Mexican restaurants, there needs to be something that sets one apart from the other. This one is good, but nothing that stands out.

Nice little place. Waitress was awesome and knew the menu inside and out, but didn’t have any actual menus as they were waiting for new ones. I had the machacado plate, but it was pretty salty. Beans and potatoes were fresh. Wife had migas and they were also just average. Will still give it another chance at a later date.

Tacos were terrible. Only took a couple of bites.Plates that other family members had were good. However young cashier looked very confused when I told him tacos were not v ery good. I said just go ahead and charge me.

Just got out of there and had a chimichanga with fajita and the rice was cold, beans were cold, yellow sauce in top was not appetizing. My daughter got a caldo de res and the meat looked old, the caldo was barely warm, the rice was cold, the caldo didn’t even look like it had any flavor at all, which it didn’t. The sweet tea tasted like it had faucet water and wasn’t even sweet. Spent 30 for it. Had high expectations but was just disappointed
