This rating is more about the sum of my experiences at Albasha as this particular visit was closer to a three. While the service was great and the atmosphere was ‘as expected’, this particular dish fell short. The lamb shank plate is pretty bland to look at and about the same in taste. Lumps of relatively plain meat that taste about as well as they look. Not bad mind you – just very plain. Perhaps the lamb shishkabob would have been a better choice for me. If it wasn’t for the feta salad, hummus, or even the rice – there wouldn’t be much here to talk about. The chicken schwarma, the combo plate, and the mousaka are all superior choices that I’ll return to (or try something new) over this dish. On that note, the other dish at the table (the reliable standby chicken schwarma) was reported to be great as usual.

Albasha is an exceptional culinary experience. Some of the best Greek/Lebanese food you can get in the entire region and possibly beyond with a great menu. And the service… the best. Servers and hosts are always accommodating and attentive. My server, Ashley, has been great, making one of my favorite restaurants even more enjoyable. And, as a self-respecting Southerner I can make this claim without hesitance: the best sweet tea in town.

Service has drastically dropped over the years. Latest dinner consisted of long waits for refills, boxes, checks, and even to get my card back. Only 6 other tables were seated while the server had my card. I saw her serving food, and the walking around giggling. When I got up and asked how long it took, she exasperatedly stated another person was running it. I also saw other servers ignoring tables calling for service. I get better service at McDonald’s, and that doesn’t cost $25 a plate.

Just about the only thing Greek or Lebanese about the “kickin chicken” is the paprika, feta cheese, and the olive in the salad. All I can say is…if I can replicate the dish….not worth going to. Store bought pita bread. Was expecting a greek salad. That was feta cheese on ranch on lettuce. Garbage. Rice was not even cooked properly. Rice is not even traditional. I should be getting jasmine rice. Fake Greek/Lebanese….save your money, go to Chipotle. Louisiana folks don’t know the real deal.

Lambchops were great, cooked perfectly medium rare and tender enough to pull apart. Hummus was great salad was also very good!

A very good restaurant. Food and Service was good. Parking and handicap accessible adequate. Salmon was very good except it was overcooked. I should have said medium but was never asked.

Food came out fast and was so yummy. Had the meat stuffed plate …a huge green bell pepper, a yellow summer squash, 2 grape leaves and 2 cabbage leaves, all covered with a red sauce. The salad and piya bread were very fresh. Leftovers from the lunch portion were enough for a couple more meals at home! This one was in Hmond and we’ve eaten at other locations in Bston Rouge… always satisfied!

It was my first time at this location in Hammond, I normally go to the one in Metairie. I ordered take out , the baba ghanouj. I was very disappointed. The dip was bland and overpriced. Actually, the entire menu price at this location is higher than the one in Metairie. I won’t be coming back to this location because the dip wasn’t worth the price.

This was our first time to Alabasha. Only giving a 3 star review of this place because while “some” of the food was good, the service was definitely lacking and it was not as fresh or good as other mediterranean restaurants we had been to. We had the meza for 3. The chicken shwarma was dry and not very flavorful. It actually had more of an American taste to it. Then, the pita breads were chewy and didn’t taste fresh. Nothing really tasted fresh, so that was a real bummer. I don’t know if the server just had a lot going on in the kitchen or what but he forgot to give us our silverware. It wasn’t until all the food had come out that we decided to ask for them.
