It’s a modern restaurant. Good environment for social activities. Food is clean and delicious. But it’s too common. Nothing really stands out. They can consider Omakase menu to become a top Japanese restaurant in this area.

Came in for a late lunch/early dinner on Saturday. Atmosphere and service is good. However, sushi rice was over cooked and there was a grease film over our shrimp fried rice. Also, bathroom is dirty. Table is sticky. Garden salad didn’t come with any side dressing. We have been the only couple/table at the restaurant for almost the last hour and it was not busy prior to us arriving (one other table was full). Not sure why the high marks.

Sushi was fresh. Flavors could be better, the ginger salad dressing a little on the bitter side.

I’ve been accustomed to unlimited sushi restaurants in the past but once I gave Akai a try, I can’t get over what a difference in quality I experienced. I’ve gone to Akai a number of times for dinner and lunch and I haven’t been disappointed yet. I will say the servers definitely try to upsell sushi experiences but it’s for a decent reason…the omakase offered is the way to go. Some of the fish pictured includes toro with gold flakes, rosy sea bass, and shima aji. For lunch, I’ve ordered the chicken katsu which was very generously portions and fried to a crisp. I plan to keep Akai in my Westchester County sushi rotation.

I have to say Akai has the best sushi in Westchester County. Never fails to disappoint, and has been and will be one of the best experiences I’ve lived in my near 21 year old life, as both a customer and employee. I really hope this place lasts forever.

Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had and I’ve had lots. Even my picky teen son was impressed.

I’ve been to Akai twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. Just came back from dinner yesterday and their omakase was the best I’ve had in Westchester. I haven’t found a good sushi place outside of the city and previously my go to had been Azuma and some of the places in Harrison but Akai will be the place I will go to from now on. The omakase had three appetizers and 12 pieces. I don’t remember them all but some notable ones were the king salmon with caviar and gold leaf, ikura, toro, even the mackerel which I’m never fond of was delicious. I was truly surprised by the flavors and creativity of the sushi chef. Give Akai a try – you will not be disappointed. Cannot speak to the warm food as we only had sushi.
