The Hornblower family started A&J’s Subs on the East Side of Olean in 1974.Several years later they opened a second location on the West End of Olean. In 1996,they consolidated both locations into the current location at 1103 West State St in Olean. Mike and Christina Jaeger now own and operate A&J’s and are carrying on the same great tradition of delicious food that is made to order and worth the wait! I always order online here. We love AJs, typically we order the sheet pizza, which is enough for myself and 4 kiddos. But sometimes we stray from our norm and kids get chicken tenders or something and I always enjoy a salad from here. Their salads are so good, fresh lettuce, love mine with saucy chicken tenders and lots of veggies. I love their Greek dressing and their rolls (I know they’re just sub rolls cut into smaller pieces but they’re so good!!) that they give with salad are so yummy and soft I always ask for an extra one!

The food here is always amazing. You can see right into the kitchen so you know it is clean. The workers always seem to be having a great time and they are always friendly. Tons of meat and toppings on the subs and wraps. Wings were crispy and had great flavor. We have a camp about 25 minutes away in Shinglehouse PA and it is worth the trip everytime.

Can’t say enough great things about A&Js! Ordered boxed dinners for our out-of-town women’s college lacrosse team to take on the bus for the long ride home, and they were amazing to work with. Mike (owner/manager?) was awesome – they paid attention to every detail of all 35 orders and received compliments from ALL girls that “the food was great”. Great food and good prices!!! Thank you Mike & Team for making an out-of-town and not in attendance at the game ordering booster mom very happy for making this dinner a success!!!

Best steak & sausage sub you’ll ever sink your teeth into period, tad expensive but certainly worth it… A lg. sub is 16inches and plenty enough to be two meals as they do not skimp on thee ingredients, in fact you get more meat and thick slices veggies than any other subshops I have been to… dec 11th 2020 update, AJ’S is not what it used to be!!! I cannot figure out how to add a new photo on here but my sub was completely soggy and the onion/peppers uncooked as well as the steak was very pink! For $35 for a sub and order of chicken tenders I expected to get the same quality I was used to and that is not at all what I got today… I will try them again to see if it was only a fluke and one bad cook or cooks bad day but it happens again then I will order elsewhere….
