One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! Where do I begin! I had the 2 meat plate and ordered brisket and ribs with a side of fried okra and potato salad! The okra was fresh and the batter was seasoned incredibly well! The okra was crunchy and fried to perfection. The potato salad was phenomenal – omg! One of the best! The owner was so nice. Food portions were great and food came out fast. The pickle juice shot was surprisingly refreshing lol. The ribs were so tender and perfectly smoked! Brisket was so moist and flavorful. If someone gives this place a bad review they are clearly having a bad day or just don’t know good eating! I wish I could bring this place home to Chicago w| me! I’ll be back for sure!

Fantastic hidden gem. This restaurant is directly next door to the railroad. We went for The North Pole Express and decided to pay to park in AJ’s lot. The smell coming from the restaurant was so good we knew we were going to be having dinner there. The place is small and comfortable. There’s indoor and outdoor patio seating The food is out of this world. My daughter and I shared the catfish and it is the best catfish I have ever had. The breading was delicious and not too thick. The fries are great. The cocktails are so good….. try the Mules, they have a variety of them. I don’t have a photo of the full menu because they offer a limited menu during the North Pole Express busy season. Grapevine is a wonderful city with a lot to offer. It’s worth a visit and when you’re there or at the Great Wood Lodge go visit AJ’s, you’ll be glad you did. I can’t wait to go back and try the smoked brisket or pulled pork.

I really wanted to give this place a better rating as it has potential. It has a very small dine in area with about 10 tables and a few tables outside. There is a hometown, family-run vibe to it but the food just wasn’t there. The brisket and pork ribs were super dry, almost as if they were prepared the previous day and the “baked potato” consisted of strips of potato with meat, cheese and sour cream on top, not my idea of a baked potato. The beans had too much vinegar and were not tasty. Not sure if I’d give this place another try but I’m sure the locals appreciate it more than I could.

We had such a good time here last night. Friendly owners and BBQ master. Had a mini family reunion. Small place and very welcoming. The food was great. We all made clean plates. Some ordered second meals to go. The BBQ ribs are unreal. Fall off the bone good. Sticky fingers make happy bellies.

Been a couple times – The absolute best BBQ. Tender and flavorful meat, deviled egg style potato salad so mustard base and awesome. I also love their coleslaw, I hate almost everyones – either too sweet or overly peppery, and this one has a tangy twist that is delicious. Tasty sauce not too spicy or sweet. I always get disappointed getting BBQ from places with good meat but horrible sides. This place has the whole package and I will always make the drive to come here instead of going somewhere closer. No contest.
