Right when we walked in we were waited on and told 5 minute wait for a table. Then bartender starts talking to us making us feel welcomed while we waited. The wife the flautas which were excellent. I got the shrimp tacos. Really liked them. Would have loved them if they came with cilantro versus lettuce. Oh and I added the pickled onions from my wife’s flautas and they were awesome! Great service and food here!

We were a party of three and were told there weren’t any tables available.We instead sat at the bar and got excellent service from a friendly but busy bartender.The margaritas were excellent,chips and guac were tasty as well.We enjoyed our entrees and again the service was excellent.I did see a three percent service charge on the menu.We had left the bartender a twenty five percent tip(deservingly so) but what is this thee percent service charge?Am I tipping the kitchen now?As long as any restaurant tacks on any “service”fee,I will not return.Shame, the food and service was good.

Delicious Azteca Shrimp! Sooooo, many shrimp! Black beans and rice were delicious also. (Bonus, all gluten-free with corn tortillas)

.We wanted Mexican, so we went. They had tables open but told us they were taken. So we said the end of the bar would be good. So we got drinks and waited and waited to order. By this time, regulars were coming in and the owner or manager started giving out shots of tequila they pretty much forgot us. It took a very long time to take our order and more time to receive our food. I can’t say anything bad about the food it was good but the restaurant was pretty much a regulars bar and the staff took care of them first and that was very unprofessional. This place was expensive also. Life and learn.

We enjoyed fantastic Mexican food, a queso fundido I could have eaten a gallon of, a broad selection of delicious tequila drinks. This felt like the kind of place where everyone is welcome and will feel at home, from families with littles to friends hanging out at the bar.

Was just there last week. Spent $88 dollars for take out lunch (plus a 20% tip). My wife ordered veg fajitas and I ordered brocheta de camarones, along with a quart of Cucumber & Jalapeño marg mix. When I got there my order was waiting. Got home and found the quart missing. Checked my order and was just very under impressed with brocheta de camerones. At $27 dollars, I expected more than what you can see in the picture. My wife was really upset because as a vegan, she doesn’t have a lot of options from restaurants. When she got her meal it was soggy and she didn’t bother eating it. I wound up calling the restaurant and they apologized about the missing the quart. I drove back and picked it up. So to spend over $100 dollars for this just not acceptable. The saddest part is that Cucumber & Jalapeño marg mix was the best part of the meal. Just wished the rest of the meal was as good.

We sat at the bar and had a very knowledgeable bartender. It was very busy. We had shrimp and chicken fajitas which were delicious. Chips, salsa and guacamole were also very good! Guac was fresh!! Drinks were excellent!! The cucumber jalapeño drink was perfect!!

I inquired a week before traveling down to Corolla with a group of 20 people to place a catering order and the process was seamless. They sent me the information that had a taco or fajita bar and everything else that was included, such as an asparagus salad and a nacho dessert. Called and paid over the phone the day before and everything was boxed and ready to go by the time we needed to pick up. Even had a delicious margarita while waiting. 🙂 Highly recommend for people traveling and looking for a meal option for a group and we even had leftovers. Food was phenomenal and service was top notch! Greatly appreciate the help of the catering team and will definitely be using this option again!

the food was delicious the service was great and the atmosphere was nice. my family was served at the bar, we had fish tacos, carne asada tacos, a steak quesadilla and the chicken mole enchiladas. we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. the rice and black beans were surprisingly flavorful. staff was friendly and quick. I would highly recommend agave roja to anyone visiting the corolla/obx area.
