So, if you’re looking for a “neighborhood” bar in a neighborhood that is racially, economically and age integrated, this is the place for you! The Academy is actually what hipster locations pretend to be. The outside space feels like a backyard designed by your super creative financially strapped friend. The inside is dim and intimate. The menu is simple and straightforward (burger, grilled cheese, etc.). Lastly, the bartender feels like a permanent fixture that will ensure you feel right at home. Entrance was not wheelchair friendly, but was easily navigated. Was expecting average bar fare, was BLOWN AWAY. The Burger was cooked perfectly and I really have no words for how amazing the fries are. Bar staff super friendly and attentive.

Drink prices are reasonable, bar tenders are friendly and attentive. I had the salad and a dozen wings on two occasions and both times they were really good! Definitely look forward to visiting again.

Arrived at 2pm. Ordered cheese sandwich with Swiss after waitress listed possible choices. Only one in tavern ordering. She wrote up order instead of 7 dollars my bill was 12.00. After 1/2 hour no food she avoided me. She then told me the cook made a chicken sandwich . There would be a delay. I looked at signed bill it stated chicken sandwich using my reading glasses. Requested take out in beginning. And tipped 2.00. Relayed I needed. 3pm meeting.Rushed out after getting takeout bag found it with wimpy fries and American cheese not Swiss under cooked. . Will not be back. The waitress was interested in customer service.
