We have eaten at Abruzzo twice, once for breakfast and once for dinner. Normally I wouldn’t do a review on an airport restaurant but I thought this place was very good on both occasions for what it is. Yes, the restaurant was expensive but the food was great. Aside from that, the decor within is very nice as well, and the service was solid both times we visited even though you have to order from an app on your phone. If you’re looking for a higher-end dining experience within the Newark Airport, this is one of the best places to go. Just remember to keep your expectations in check as far as the service part goes. Ordering from an app is never the same as having a waiter.

3 stars is the best I can do here. It seems to be a big ask to get a decent meal in an Airport regardless but it looked to be a better choice than some so we went in. The place was packed but seated in the only available table quickly, it went down hill just as quickly from there. The food was overpriced and bland. The “service” was basically non existent and painfully slow. I had to first get a servers attention ( difficult ) and ask for Water, Parmesan cheese, another drink ECT. Multiple attempts at getting the cheese finally got it after eating the majority of the meal. Never did get the water. And the whiskey is apparently watered down. If you have Celiac and choose this restaurant you’re making a mistake. If you’re expecting food that matches the price you’re making a mistake. You want to have a whiskey during your layover ? Don’t get it here.

I took a leap of faith to come here despite the reviews hereunder, needed somewhere airy and quiet. Triple crown – 0 stars on food, service, hygiene. Plastic utensils because the metal ones are “out”, on a Sunday 12 pm, half empty place. Found at least 10 random black particles in my water and coke, it’s “from the machine”. I can stand bad service but can’t stand unsafe food. Didn’t want to stick around anymore. Took two bites of the ~$20 meatball dish and walked out to find a Dunkin. Found a lady next to me doing the exact same. What absurd place to start a trip.

Clean, pretty good food for an airport, and relatively quick service. It is pretty expensive but so is everything in the airport. The only issue was that the burger did not come out and we had to remind the servers about it. The Grilled Asparagus were surprisingly good and I would definitely recommend that you order those.

TL;DR: Dirty, nonexistent service, cold food, out of beer. PASS.

The food was amazing, the service was a little slow.

Decent for airport food, but the pasta was a bit over cooked, the guanciale was hard and the dish had entirely too much red pepper-which overpowered the otherwise decent dish.

I think the food is good but way overpriced; however, that’s not my issue…. First I ordered a second glass of wine that sat for n the bar for ten minutes I’ll I finally got someone’s attention… casually put it on the table as tho it was not sitting there while the staff was having a good time at the end of the bar… NEXT… and I can’t believe this even happened!! When you have a customer that is obviously working at a table and that has ordered food and wine, why would your staff think it was in anyway appropriate to sit their belongings on the customer’s table and/or lean on it while they wait to clock in… all while again chatting and cutting up tho a paying customer does not exist. This quickly went from a good experience to…are you kidding me really fast!

Horrible. I rarely leave bad reviews but this is an exception. No service at all. Had to get up for refills and ketchup from the bartender. Two waitresses stood right in front of me and had a very vulgar conversation. Another came and started wiping down my table while I was eating. Food was cold, bland, and overpriced even for airport food.Appetizer was unbeatable. After this experience I’ve promised myself never to eat at an airport restaurant again. So it was probably a good investment.
