We stopped by to grab dinner to go. Stayed for a drink while waiting for our food and the wait staff was great. When we got back to our place, the food was great! My husband and I both thought it was better than any place we had tried near where we live. I got chicken fajitas and my husband got a roasted game hen. Both were great. My son had a bean and cheese burrito. We where so glad we ended up trying out the restaurant!

We’ve driven by so many times & always busy. We decided to drive down & give it a shot for dinner in a Friday night. Parking lot was till but we got a table right away. The menus are in the table / thought it was super cool at guest but then not because although I had to pull out my glasses, was a strain to see everything clearly. Chips & Salsa was placed in the table & drink orders taken. Margaritas had great fruit flavor but it’s on me to make sure to ask next time if there are multiple tequila options or just one kind (as didn’t appear to be a bar but later saw a small one in the opposite side of the building)…Food order was also taken & delivered quickly for the busyness. Hands down best Chicken Tortilla soup I’ve ever had! Highly Highly recommend it. The shrimp cocktail comprise was interesting “warm & soup like” that I’m not entirely sure about…The fajita quesadilla was gigantic & I loved the presentation with the rice & bean holders. Dessert had to be ordered because it was flan…pretty good size portion for the price…I generally am not a fan (in general husband is though) but I gave it a shot. Service was great – very attentive & fast. Definitely a place to give a try if on the peninsula.

This is a nice place to go when in the mood for good Mexican food. I get side tacos and the seafood chimichangas. I have not had a problem with the food yet. It’s flavorful and filling. Highly recommend checking this place out. Quick service too and colorful atmosphere.

Great Mexican food, good margaritas! Super busy for one or two servers but they did great! Remember, kindness and patience are free. Everything was well worth any wait.

Amazing and hard working waitress. Chips and salsa were fresh and perfect. Enchiladas and burritos were great. Our kids ordered American food at a Mexican restaurant and loved it, lol. Best fries! Our favorite family friendly restaurant during our week stay.

This place was great! Awesome food! We had the waitress who’s pregnant with some bad reviews, but she was delightful, hard working, and down to business. People need to realize she’s working while very prego, so give her a break, God only knows what she’s going through. Service was awesome, never had to ask for refills on water, which is what I generally go off of, food was out in reasonable manner.

A really pleasant surprise! Long Beach restaurants are very hit or miss and tend to coast on being in a tourist town. El Compadre exceeded my expectations and my family and I really enjoyed our meal. The restaurant was a little run down, but drinks & food were good & the staff really hustled (they seemed to be understaffed, but they did a great job getting food out, filling drinks, & checking on our table). The food was traditional Mexican restaurant type fare & was served with chips & salsa. Our carne asada was cooked well and was tender, the beans & rice were well seasoned, and I loved the cilantro packed pico and highly recommend getting it on the side, it absolutely freshens up such a heavy meal. I also really enjoyed the enchiladas & chile relleno.

The Nachos are heavy on the cheese, which unfortunately steams the chips themselves.

It might not look like much outside, and the inside could use a quick sprucing up… Staff on the other hand was very professional and seemed to never stop moving. Food came out perfect and the serving size was just right. Got a couple of Margaritas to top things off and we were not disappointed with the taste. Not to much tequila to over power the flavor, but just enough to say “Yup there’s Tequila”. A must for authentic dining.
