The food, drinks, and service were terrific. The person helping us was knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great suggestions. My favorite drinks were the Hululu and keroppi in a cup.

Excited to try this spot as it was touted as one of the best Japanese restaurants in Los Angeles. It most certainly is not. I had high expectations, but everything I ate was uninspired and mundane both in taste and appearance. Their motto appears to be “throw wasabi on it” as everything seemingly has wasabi on top, I assume to make up for the boring, underwhelming flavors. The “A5 wagyu” skewers were chewy & fatty, far from the melt-in-your-mouth texture I was expecting. The nigiri had an unpleasant, bland taste. I thought maybe the dessert could salvage this meal, but it was a letdown. Given the price, atmosphere and service this izakaya restaurant and its lackluster dishes are a massive disappointment.

Niki Nakayama’s new venture that is more accessible than her renowned Michelin rated n/naka establishment. This is a take on Japanese bar classics (skewers) and fresh seafood eats (sushi, sashimi) that is geared towards high quality and simplicity. Definitely make reservations since space is limited and does get booked.

Been dying to come to this spot since they were a popup in DTLA! Ambiance was very serene, Japanese design was very clean and clean lines. Surprisingly felt empty / intimate when we went, though it was a fully booked out night. We sat in the patio area outside, which was lovely.

Ever had a meal so mediocre that you just get a little sad afterwards? That was our experience, and I regret coming in with high expectations.

Some of the best Japanese in LA, let alone that I’ve ever had. And so central in a quiet unsuspecting neighbourhood. Reed was wonderful and explained it was owned by Michelin Star chefs from n/naka. It’s clear this place is special.

New spot, had a wonderful server named Molly. This place has been open for a month. Enjoyed the cocktails and sake selection. Raw seafood was a bit from sushi to oysters. The best items were the yakitori.

Went in expecting greatness. Didn’t find it. Not a bad place at all, but IMO not worth a drive to visit. Food and service was good, but not outstanding. The winner was the unagi special and the Hokkaido scallops. The karaage was a bit disappointing. All yakitori missed the marked except for the unagi special. The wings were not cooked through.

A spiritual sequel to her already famed n/naka, chef Niki’s n/soto delivers an elevated dining experience to burgeoning West Adams. A Michelin star chef planting roots in West Adams? I say this with Heisenberg energy: you’re g*d damn right.
