Was definitely visiting with high expectations after hearing such great things, but was unfortunately disappointed. We only saw our server when our drinks were brought out and when we finally received our food. We had to go find someone in order to get our bill. Our server was fairly polite though. Please note, it was not busy. Took a very long time to get our food. The food was very hit or miss. The mashed potatoes, tacos, black eye peas, and queso was all very bland with no flavor. The country fried steak was good and the sweet potato fries were good, so it wasn’t all terrible. It was clean and was comfortable atmosphere, but was a little warm. I will also add, that there was no changing table in the bathrooms, which was unfortunate since I ended up having to change my son on the toilet lid… I’m on the fence about revisiting for a second opinion.

Their sweet tea is amazing! Some notes on their menu, when it says rice it is Spanish style and gravy is between brown or white and if it comes with tortillas they are corn. The country fried steak was so tough and chewy you could hardly cut it even with a knife. The steak was big chunks so overcooked I couldn’t cut them and even using my hands it was difficult. The spaghetti dish from the kids menu was very tomato tasting and they didn’t salt the pasta. I have seen so many positive reviews for this restaurant here maybe this was an off night:

The food was absolutely fantastic! I’ve never tasted a Meatloaf so well seasoned and executed and I am an actual 5 star chef. The Flan was the stuff dreams are made of. The flavors were perfectly balanced. The texture was moist, light and creamy. The servers were polite and professional, the wait time was perfectly adequate for such a wonderfully prepared meal. The restaurant was very clean with a warm and inviting feel. I highly recommend going there as soon as you have a chance! The menu offers a wide range of delicious items. You’re sure to find a number of items that you will love. Kudos to the staff and owners. You can taste the love they have for each other and their cuisine. I will certainly be back!

The fried chicken was delicious — not from frozen. Black-eyed peas, squash casserole, cornbread, and flan were all excellent. The macaroni and cheese was good, but I will try another side next time. I ordered an extra side dish and had enough left for supper. I plan to return a lot!!!

Very slow getting food out. Never seen server again unless we flagged them down. The chicken tenders & fries were really good. Just wish didnt have to wait so long to get food and server to be more aware of her customers.

Do yourself a flavor favor and go now! This place is amazing! From homemade tamales to veggies to brisket, Maria’s Kitchen serves it all… and it is all DELICIOUS!! I’ve been there a handful of times now, ordered many different items, and the quality and taste are always excellent! The atmosphere is laid-back and friendly, and everyone there is just lovely. New fave place!

Food was great, I was tired of fast food on a Sunday, I had hamburger steak, pinto beans, mashed potatoes, it was good, and the sweet tea was the best in town, my wife said the turkey and dressing was so good, she brought some home. We will be going back.
