Backpacking America
My first time eating at Runza. It was a delightful blend of culinary simplicity and comfort food at its finest. Imagine a fluffy, yet slightly crisp, yeast dough pocket enveloping a warm mixture of seasoned ground beef, onions, and cabbage. The texture is soft on the inside with a pleasant exterior crunch, giving way to a steamy, flavorful filling that feels both nourishing and indulgent. The filling is well-seasoned but not overpowering, allowing the individual flavors to shine through. It’s the kind of sandwich that warms you from the inside out, perfect for a cold day but just as satisfying any time of the year. While some variations include cheese or even a Southwest twist with jalapeños, the classic version, which I ate, is a staple Midwestern comfort food that defies fast-food categorization. Once you take a bite, you’ll understand why this sandwich has a devoted following. It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience that combines the coziness of home-cooked fare with the convenience of quick service.

We were told that we had to have a Runza while in Nebraska. I definitely enjoyed it. It was a bit small and could have had another for sure. The staff was so nice and friendly helping out two newbie’s.

I am not from Nebraska and a friend here told me I had to try the Runza sandwich. It was amazing! I hope I get the chance to have another one before I leave! The price was very reasonable!

We went to Runza on Web road. The server was so very nice. Our food was great. Especially the onion ring – chicken strips- chili soup.

I not from Nebraska, I am used to messy Chicago dogs. The swiss mushroom burger was excellent! Would come back just for the burger. Fries needed more seasoning but was good as was.

Went to Runza at 6:00 pm to get 4 Runzas and fries. Turned out they did not have ANY Runzas ready at dinner time. Waited 40 minutes in line and in the parking lot to get my order. Then when I finally got the food, I drove home to find out they did not give me ANY of the food I ordered. One star is too gracious!

Usually get the burger and fries, which are always good. Thought I would be different and get a chicken wrap. Tasted delicious but only about 4 bites? Pictures don’t lie. Not worth the $$$. Please bring back the Italian runza!

Wished they were closer to where we lived. Fun tradition of going to Runza when in NE. Good food for fast food.

We were passing through the state and just happened to see this place and thought it looked interesting. The staff serviced us quickly and we were on our way again. These are great for road trips because they are not as messy as burgers in that they are contained within the bread. I love the concept and the food tasted great as well! And it was nice to have the “frings” option which was a combination of fries and onion rings! Great ideas all around!

Forgot a whole runza out of our order. Don’t leave without double checking your bag, they’ll stiff you.
