Almost cried because the food is so delicious! It brought me back to my youth when I would eat Cuban food at friends Abuela house. Estela herself served us, and is very pleasant. This will be our favorite stop when we travel.

Visited Salem, VA and could not find a good place to eat there so looked at reviews of restaurants in Roanoke and found this place. I love Hispanic food and this place did not disappoint! I’m from the Atlanta area and have tried many Cuban restaurants and have never had food that compared to The Cuban Island in Roanoke. Also, the service was great, the portion sizes were decent, and the prices were reasonable. Only negative I could say is that their yuca is boiled and not fried so it wasn’t the best. Also, they only have the sweet plantains and I like the fried green plantains so I was a little disappointed. Overall though the food was great and I would definitely recommend this place.

The food here is always fantastic. Lots to choose from and the home made salsa can kick up the level if you want. The deserts here are really good as well. Usually have to get them to go as the portions are large and the cakes too good to pass up. The service is as good as the food! One of my favorite all the restaurants.

I debater over leaving a review because the lady who served me was genuinely pleasant. HOWEVER the Cuban sandwich was not it. Despite the lady’s explanation that a classic Cuban sandwich doesn’t include pork, I was skeptical as I’ve enjoyed many Cuban sandwiches that traditionally include pork. I decided to research this and found no evidence supporting a Cuban sandwich consisting solely of ham and cheese. Regrettably, I paid $12 for a ham and cheese sandwich. Furthermore, the sandwich was made with white American cheese rather than the expected Swiss .

Friendly owners, tasty food, great price and portions. Drop on by! I appreciated that the menu was fairly simple but still had lots of great options. Everything was delicious! The plantains were also particularly good.

Cute place! Very friendly service & lots of space inside a bright, cuban-themed space. The food was not very exciting in my opinion but was good enough for a quick lunch. My daughters enjoyed their Cuban sandwiches & I had the rice/beans & a couple empanadas, both of which were pretty dry & could have used more veggies & sauces to round out the dish.

I’m town for a tournament, opted out of pizza with the kids, so got the chicken and shrimp, did takeout, generous portion and washed it down with flan, would definitely recommend. Walking in the restaurant, impression was good, very clean and well lit, inviting.

One of Williamson road’s gems. You’ll love the owner and the homemade Cuban Cuisine is varied and yuca is better than mashed potatoes!
