Great shrimp, sauces are good, meat was good. Texas sheet cake was excellent, great clean and inviting bar/ restaurant. Seems really family friendly as the bar and restaurant are separate areas. Just west of Montello on hwy23

Service was great, atmosphere was nice and clean but the food was terrible incredibly disappointing, had the brisket it was dry and bland, zero flavor. If you have to put sauce on every single bit of brisket, then something is wrong. It was barley warm and looked like it’s been under a heat lamp for several hours. But the sides were really really good tho and our waitress was really nice. (Look at photo to show how dry it is)

Arrived at 12:45 and no one took our order for 15 minutes said she was the only waitress didn’t get our food until 2:20. People that ordered after us had already been eating well before we got our food. One time, some lady came by and asked if we wanted another drink. When we finally got our food my husband’s brisket was cut with the grain which made it tough and it was refrigerator cold. The sauce on my prime rib sliders was horrible, didn’t need to be there and it had to much cheese, the prime rib was also overcooked. But the waitress said the owner is sorry it took so long when she brought out the food. A few minutes later she asked if everything was ok and we told her no and explained. She offered to warm up my husbands sandwich, but we said no, we weren’t waiting another hour, and it was sliced wrong too. Next thing we know she is bringing us the bill. Never asked if we wanted anything else or dess⁰⁰ert. Why did we have to wait so long for food that they should have ready to go? This is what they do BBQ!Not even any compensation on the bill. Won’t go there again. Horrible service and food.

Great food, atmosphere music! Smoked BBQ Shrimp were 10/10 would recommend 🙂 As with many area bars/restaurants it is hard to staff due to extreme fluctuations in patrons.

The brisket was good, cornbread very moist and delicious. I ordered the BBQ shrimp appetizer which I wondered if it was prepared thoroughly because it was very chewy(not from being over cooked though). They offer mixed drinks and we ordered old fashions which were awful! Found out the reason why is because all their alcohol is WINE based! Yuk! They should definitely inform their patrons of this fact and only have this info in tiny print on bottom of drink menu. Mine tasted like a lemonade with fruit added. And for $5 per drink, that’s a rip off! To be fair to this establishment, their food and service was good.

We are big fans of BBQ and have eaten BBQ at some of the country’s top restaurants including several in Texas, Arizona and Chicago. I can honestly say Smokin Oak is the best BBQ I have eaten ever for several reasons. It was the perfect balance of smoke but not too Smokey that it overpowers the natural meats. The sauces are all homemade and delicious. The cornbread is delicious and not too sweet or too heavy on the corn. The coleslaw was amazing and the beans were delicious. Don’t miss this restaurant if you are near Madison or the outlying cities.

The restaurant was clean, remodeled, and spacious. A little cold in the dining room. Our server was great. Friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. I saw the menu online and it was 4 pages, so it was disappointing that when I got there, it was only 1 page. They had 3 dinner options and one was sold out. (The one I wanted). We ordered pulled chicken sandwiches and fries. The chicken was tender and well seasoned and the roll was fresh. French fries were hot, seasoned well, and not greasy! The only downfall was portion size for the price. Overall, good.

Everything about the place was amazing but when I came to the food my hopes were let down. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich bun came out soggy because the pork was wet. My father ordered the brisket and it was dry. Service was great, the place looked like a old style smoke house but it was a let down in the end.

We went there with a party of 6, got seated right away. Part if our party were smokers, and I might add very good and expereniced smokers.We had ribs, brisket and sandwiches. The food was well worth the price, I had the brisket, it was tender snd taste wonderful, melt in your mouth. We will be returning soon,I want to try their homemade mac and cheese.
