Local gem serving up delicious Lao Thai food. Everything is made to order which will take time but worth the wait OR call ahead!

I love Laos food! I had it once a couple of years back at a Laos temple and have been obsessed with the flavors! I’ve been searching for a place in north Dallas, but the only one I found was NaLinh Market. I love their food as well, but it was an hour’s drive. Luckily, I came upon Sbt Lao Thai on Google and decided to check them out!

I don’t know how this place has almost 5 stars. It stinks really bad and looks horrible. It needs to be deep cleaned asap. The lady cooking in the back has a face caked with make-up. I lost my appetite walking in this place. Even the outside looks horrible.

This place is like a hole-in-the-wall restaurant.

It is very hard to find a place that serves very good Lao food or South East Asian food in general. This place is refreshingly good.

Best Laos AND best overall Thai food I’ve had period. People giving this place less than five stars are literally crazy! Like every truly good Thai place yes the outside is a little dingy. But as soon as you walk through the door it’s a little cluttered but clean, tidy, lots of beautiful living plants growing, tasty homemade treats for sale up front. To me that homey atmosphere is all the more magical and authentic! Even then I’d be happy to eat this food sitting on the curb! It’s so delicious. Well spiced and seasoned, plenty of vegetables, aromatics, meats, and insanely low prices for the quality and quantity of food you’re getting. We got a truly delicious pad sea ew (my one year old absolutely decimated this), the lao curry crispy rice salad (don’t miss out on this dish and it’s the best I’ve ever had) and these truly spectacular tapioca balls filled with sweet savory pork peanut filling and topped with garlic crisps. I’ve never had them before and the texture and flavor were absolutely divine. Trumps any dumpling! I can’t wait to come back and try their pad Thai. Usually pad Thai from restaurants is a disappointment but I just KNOW it’s going to be legit. We also snatched up some coconut layer cake on the way out which I’m enjoying as I RAVE about this place. So warm gooey, creamy, chewy, not too sweet. Probably best I’ve ever had too. Honestly I can’t wait to come back, we’re SO excited we found this gem!

This place is definition of hole in wall but after driving past it hundreds of time I finally went in and we Will be back. The Laotian crispy rice was awesome and their twist on Thai noodles was great as well.

Rating this place any less than a 5 is a slap in the face. You need to understand and have a good expectation for the nature of legit Southeast Asian restaurants. This place warms my heart and reminds me of my all-time favorite community gems. I had the Nam Khao (a must try), Pad Se Eew, and Sakou Sai Mou. Everything was exceptional. The portions are generous, the flavors are incredible, and the prices make it a value proposition that is unbeatable. If you’re expecting a sexy sleek interior that looks like a Sandra Lee Asian Fusion table scape from a 2010 episode of Semi-Homemade, go to Zennas for your Thai food. If you want that real deal Holyfield, eat here, or get it to go. Thank you to the owners and staff for this amazing offering.
