A great alternative to their BIG Tx Chain neighbor; the cozy Peony Bistro gave us exceptional service with brutally honest recommendations, differentiating popular and personal favorites. They present an authentic alternative to a house salad, a definite acquired taste – i recommend ASKING about their house salad before ordering. The combination of food (Rich & Famous and Rainbow Roll) and the pleasant service made the stop and trip enjoyable.

First visit but certainly not the last. Welcoming staff, quick service and lengthy menu. Hot and sour soup one of the best I’ve ever had, chock full of veggies and tofu, and robust beef flavors. Couldn’t resist egg rolls and they were perfectly fried and loaded with veggies. Main dish, sesame chicken, delicious, fresh tasting and generous serving.

My third meal here this week at this delightful little Asian Bistro close to where I’m staying at the Courtyard. All good experiences. They have few vegetarian options on the menu, but very accommodating, they will substitute tofu for the meat and fish. Service and atmosphere are top rate.

Craving for Chinese food and didn’t feel like cooking so decided to try out here. It’s an okay Chinese restaurant. Was wanting more of a family style dinner of sharing dishes but it’s more of an American style of each person ordering their own dish. My favorite from what we ordered was the garlic eggplant. The shrimp w cashew and Hunan beef were okay. Biggest complaint is portions are really small for the price I’m paying. It was also saltier than I prefer in authentic Chinese food. Again, it’s an okay Chinese restaurant for the location and given the people who tend to eat there.

Granted this is most likely the best mixed Asian restaurant in Newark, that being said my entree tasted like they opened a can and poured it on the plate (curry). The rest of my party had sushi which was ok, and the appetizers were actually pretty good. Atmosphere is dimly lit to cover the needed repairs and cleanliness. They seemed to be doing a lot of carryout business, maybe you just need to find the good plates. I do not plan on coming back.

I can’t believe I missed this place for far too long. I’ve had several of their dishes and loved each one. The portions are generous and my leftovers gave me two more meals.The sushi rivals Aki Hana, and the red thai curry was the best I’ve ever had. Quality doesn’t come cheap, but it was really cheap considering I used it for three meals.
