Kathy Donnelly
My sister and I were looking for BBQ dinner. The place we were looking for turned out to be a food truck, which is fine but we wanted a sit down place. We passed Donna’s BBQ on the way, so decided to give it a try even though it had less than 4 stars reviews. The inside dining is not open, but they have outside tables. We ordered at the window. They did a good takeout business while we were there. We got pulled pork and asked for extra sauce, mac n cheese, coleslaw. Coleslaw was a little dry for my taste, but mac n cheese and pulled pork were really good. I would get take out from there next time and skip the coleslaw. The outside tables were very noisy next to busy road, but better than eating in car.

The food was simply delicious! We had the Pulled Pork Meal, 1/2 Chicken Meal, with Collard Greens, Baked Beans and Cole Slaw. We also had 2 drinks. The chicken was not dry and flavorful. The pork had great flavor as well. The greens had a nice smoked flavor and the beans were just right and not too sweet. We were so full, didn’t have a chance to eat the cole slaw. We plan another visit to try the Mac and Cheese and deserts. The 2 meals and two 32oz drinks cost us around $38 dollars.

Man…. Talk about rug pull. Ribs tasted like they were days old, and came with enough sauce to slather 1 rib….but that’s not the worst, the sandwich had cole slaw that was so watery the bread was like mush and definitely wasn’t fresh… container looked like it had milk at the bottom it was so watery…… definitely wouldn’t recommend this place. The lady taking the order was very nice and polite though so at least it had that.

Best BBQ I’ve had in a while! The ribs were tender and delicious, the pork mixed with the sauce was absolutely great. The chicken was falling off the bone. But, the baked beans were my favorite, they had that smoke flavor like brodus used to have! I was very pleased with my experience and the GREAT customer service I received!

Was forced to throw some good ol sonny’s BBQ sauce on the pulled pork because you only get a tablespoon of their sauce (not an exaggeration at all). Pretty sure it was boiled and not smoked. The wife’s ribs were dry as well with a tablespoon of BBQ sauce. Baked beans were definitely out of a can. Mac n cheese was underwhelming. All served with some sliced white bread…I give it two stars because the cashier was nice.

We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the staff was very polite. Bbq is prepared in many different ways and I think some lose sight of that. I’m from the Memphis TN area and this is different from what we do there but it is good homemade food. I’m a small business owner too, so hats off to them and I wish them much success. In fact we had to wait because the first time we ordered they were sold out and we tried again the next weekend and enjoyed it.

I purchased 2 rib sandwiches from Donna’s Real Pit BBQ on Friday 7/08/2022 around 6pm and when I walked up to the window there’s a sign that state if you use your debit or credit card it’s a 3.5% fee. So I went to the 7 Eleven and got cash back. I was going to order 1 rib dinner and 1 rib sandwich but the Mac & Cheese have a $1.75 up charge as well as the Greens. I was told they were out of the corn on the cob. I tried the ribs and they were very tough and very chewy. So tough my jaws was hurting. You get a very small amount of BBQ sauce with your sandwich that comes in a condiment cup and the cup wasn’t even full as well as 2 thin slices of bread. Also the BBQ sauce wasn’t good it was just BBQ sauce.

It’s VERY obvious once trying Donna’s that these tacky 1 star reviews are written by a competitor across the street. Especially the one that clearly states to not eat here and go across the street instead. Unfortunately, that obvious tactic of writing a bunch of bad reviews intrigued us even more to try a legacy reopened. We were pleasantly surprised on how absolutely delicious it was. My fiancé was almost in tears bc Brody’s’ was a staple in his weekly eating and he was devastated when it closed. The rib sandwich was simple and smoked to perfection just like he remembered. My Carolina pork was the best version of this sandwich I’ve ever had. Oh and the review whining about the half container of sauce..it was that good that you didn’t need it. The only thing lacking was the cornbread but who care..the meat spoke for itself. Please do yourself a favor and disregard all these 1 star reviews and dig in to some amazing local BBQ! Thank
