Atmosphere is great and the waitress was fantastic. I ordered steak tips well done and emphasized well done. I even said it would be ok to cut into the tips to ensure they were cooked to order. When the food came out the tips were rare and had to be sent back. I waited approximately 10-15 minutes while my wife ate her meal. The tips came back and all but one were well done. The tips were flavorful! The waitress did give me a beer “on the house”. The experience was great but the issue with the food is the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars for the food. I would go back though and order a different meal. Give this place a shot, I think you will like it.

Atmosphere was great. Service was great, however the food I received was not. The clam chowder was thin, runny and salty with very little clams or potatoes. The pork nachos were burnt and hardly edible. They were so chewy you could hardly get them down. The side salad never showed up. Not what I expected for a $100 plus bill. Very disappointing.

Super cozy pub with live music and the friendliest staff. The wait for a table on a Saturday night could be long, but you can grab a drink at the bar and relax by the fireplace while you wait. The ambiance was perfect after a long day hiking.

Absolutely some of the best food I’ve ever had up here since I’ve been coming here. All the staff are extremely kind, the restaurant itself always gives me a good bit of nostalgia, and the food has always been a hit. Anytime I’m up here, I try to hit up the Shovel Handle at least once. Cannot recommend this place enough.

They had a really good lobster Mac and cheese! Their garlic wings were tasty but most of all, I really loved their water (lol). The water came straight from the mountains. This pub is also next to the inn we stayed which was super convenient! Worth the visit!

We absolutely love everything about Whitney’s and the Shovel handle pub. The atmosphere, the music, the food, the area and the owners. Eaten here many times, working through the menu and haven’t had a bad meal yet. We got married here in July 2021 because of our great experiences here and we are returning customers for life.

Place gets packed during ski season. No reservations, just show up and wait. The barn is impressive, good food, service is good too but servers seems rather overwhelmed and outnumbered. Live music is a plus. Maple blueberry ribs fell off the bone, clean!!

Enjoyed two delicious meals here while attending weddings. Both the steak tips and chicken cordon bleu are delicious. Best food i have ever had at a wedding. The restaurant is a old barn with lots of rustic charm draped in white lights. Perfect venue.
