Come with a open imagination! Take yourself back to the pirate days in this local Wilmington hideaway. Everything was on point for the atmosphere it’s trying to bring. Service was great, definitely check out their events (which are Friday and saturdays) reserve for party of 5 or more are recommended

Make a reservation! The food is awesome but the atmosphere is worth our trip from Little River that we will make often! The drinks and watching the barkers prepare them would be enough entertainment but the music and characters in costumes were so much fun. Make the trip…you won’t regret it. We were there for 4 hours. Don’t forget the upstairs…its like a museum.

this is the most fun restaurant in wilmington! if you haven’t been here, you’ve gotta go. the decor is so fun! it’s basically a museum with 2 floors of “expedition artifacts” for you to explore. the food is AMAZING. for sure get the pu pu platter, everyone in my group had a different favorite but mine was for sure the pork bao buns. Every single drink was a work of art. I guarantee you’ll be surprised by the glass, props, or some other crazy thing that comes with your drink. this place plays old movies and vintage animations on the projector too. it’s such a vibe! If I didn’t know any better, I’d think this was a restaurant in brooklyn but it’s in our very own wilmington!

I can’t even explain how highly I recommend The Sorrow Drowner! This may be the most beautiful, immersive, and detailed restaurant or bar I’ve ever seen. The cocktails are fantastic, the food is incredible, and the house band was phenomenal! My friends are still talking about the bao! If you’re a local and you’ve never been, this may be your new favorite spot, and if you’re planning a trip, you owe it to yourself to come and experience everything they have to offer!

This place is the best! The more you look around the better the establishment becomes. Every esoteric item plays into the meticulously arranged madness of each room. This place is for adventurers only and those that want to be taken into a story not for the feint of heart. You will not be disappointed nor dissatisfied with any time that you spend there. Good service and personable staff. Drinks are the mai Tai, uncharted territory in a souvenir mug, three dots and a dash (V in Morse code for V-E Day), and a Singapore sling. All are worth it.

This is the coolest bar I’ve been to ever. The food was great. The staff were extremely nice. I even talked with the owner a bunch and they were extremely friendly. This place should stay packed out the door with a line for how awesome it is. Will be back

You’ve kind of got to go here. Weird. Esoteric. Creepy. Make your own scene out of a Fargo episode mixed with Mad Men. Pretend it’s 1967 and your wife just left you and you can’t get a refund on your anniversary tickets on Pan-Am to Waikiki, so you settle for the next best thing before you go home with Jean from Accounts Receivable and make a huge mistake. Or not. Maybe it’s the next chapter.

My husband and I had a great time. We were celebrating for my birthday and decided to check it out. The host that sat us was friendly and explained the experience well and our waitress was super sweet. We were able to speak to the owner and he was a really great guy. The drinks, food, and music were awesome.
