I have dined several times at Ama La Vita and this is an outstanding Italian restaurant in downtown Sarasota. Owners, Tricia and Danny, are incredibly affable and great to interact with! The pastas are excellent and the wide selection of wines (especially Italian) by the glass are well preserved utilizing a Coravin system. Servers Michael and Susan are very helpful and attentive. Will return often!

Only suitable phrase to describe our experience is “Wow!” From the amazing hospitality to the amazing food, it was truly a memorable experience. Quality and freshness of the food was a 10 out 10, Tricia was so accommodating and went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our meal. We’ve eaten at most of the Italian restaurants in Sarasota, while many are really good, Ama La Vita is our new favorite. Must tries are fried Rice ball, Pasta Carbonara, scallop risotto, and bourbon glazed pork. Coconut cake is a must! Can’t wait to try other menu items.

Enjoyed everything about this restaurant. Food was perfectly prepared and seasoned. Service was excellent and wines were excellent. Three of us had three different fish, all delicious and one had pasta which they very much enjoyed. Definitely a winner for Sarasota!

We had a great meal for 10 here. The food was excellent, and the service was perfect. Michael is the best there is, and we have known him for years. Chef is from New Orleans, and his cooking shows the influence. This is a great small restaurant on a busy street. It is a quiet but busy restaurant. Good menu. The fish is terrific, especially the halibut. Perfectly cooked, not overdone! Even the greens were perfect. His take on barbecued shrimp was interesting and very good. Served out of the shell. This was our second time here in as many weeks.

We ate here for the 2nd time last night. Our first experience was terrific but this one managed to exceed that somehow. From the complimentary amuse bouche eggplant fritter to the rice ball appetizers to our entrees, everything was wonderful. Add in the exemplary service and perfect ambience and you have an amazing night. Do yourself a favor and go to this place!

We have lived in Sarasota for years and dined here due to the positive reviews online. I am not sure how this restaurant achieves the ratings it does as it is well past it prime and the food is average at best. Its very small inside with nothing special about the interior. The service was very slow on a Friday night and it was not worth the wait for the food. While they say the make the bread in house you should probably skip it or hope they start buying it from a bakery that makes good bread. The artichoke appetizer was not that bad but nothing special. We inquired if they make any of their pasta and they said no, so consider it all boxed. The marinara sauce on my pasta was horrible as the consistency was not great and it was very bland . I left half of the dish. My wife got the pasta Bolognese and there was way too much watery sauce dumped on a bed of pasta. Tasted like Chef Boyardee. There are so many excellent Italian restaurants in Sarasota and this is clearly not one of them. Try Mediterraneo (a few blocks down) or Napule on 41 which are both lively places with great atmosphere.
