We’ve been to Grey Sweater which we thought was amazing so we wanted to try Black Walnut. Food was super good and staff were nice and attentive. We ordered the Chèvre, Salmon, Lobster Bites, and their signature dessert. All were really good and we will certainly come back. It was an awesome birthday dinner!

Talking to a friend about the food scene in Oklahoma, they referred me to check out one of Chef Andrew Black’s restaurants. A quick Google search led me to Black Walnut. It’s no surprise Black was recently named Oklahoma’s first-ever James Beard winner chef of the southwest! I sat at the bar, and started off with the Brussels Caesar salad (which I am obsessed about in and of itself) and this place’s was crispy and scrumptious. Looking at the main entrees, I asked the bar keeper what she recommended and without any hesitation said the honey roasted lavender chicken. I’m so happy I listened, because this dish, wow!!!! This dish was an explosion of flavor and magical goodness in my mouth. It’s served with a hot water cake, which will help you soak up the utterly yummy sauce. My word, it’ll make you want to be bathe in it because it’s so damn good!! The meal just for myself came out to be $44, which was not expected, but I am not complaining. It was worth every dollar!

I absolutely loved this place! It’s super cute and cozy inside and all of the staff were very friendly. They have a good selections of entrees, appetizers, and happy hour specials. Their wine menu is pretty decent as well. I HIGHLY recommend trying the fried green tomatoes and the lobster bites. I can admit I was a little hesitant to order lobster in Oklahoma, but it tasted fresh and had really good flavor.

One of my favorite places for a birthday dinner or even just a nice date night. The food is incredible and the service is wonderful. I have never ordered anything I didn’t like, but the English Beef Ribs are my favorite. OKC really has a special place here!

Great spot for a date night. Staff was extremely attentive and friendly, helped us first timers out with the menu. I love that it’s broken up by flavor profiles. Food was delicious, as we were seated the table next to us were leaving and couldn’t stop talking about what an unbelievable meal it was. The cocktails were likely my personal favorite but it’s all worth checking out.

No server introduced themselves for over 30 minutes. When i finally asked a nearby server was she our server, she seemed surprised but took our order. The menu didn’t mention a dish had nuts and my friend was allergic so had to send it back, and the server seemed annoyed saying she wished we had disclosed allergies before ordering. The food however was phenomenal.
