My wife and I have been coming to Porch Cafe for almost 10 years. We love this restaurant and have stuck with them even when they’ve had some down times.

We celebrated our Anniversary at the Porch Café. It is a beautiful space with great views. We chose the Four course Wine pairing dinner. It was the best meal we’ve had in our last year of travels. Each course, and paired wine, was perfect. The ingredients were fresh. Perfectly balanced flavors. And the presentation was beautiful. I highly recommend trying the burnt orange old fashioned. Shout out to Daniel (bartender), Justin (server), and the talented Chef Sean (who turned my husband into a grits fan).

This was an adorable place and the environment was so tranquil and beautiful. Sadly, the food did not match the vibe. The fried green tomatoes were unseasoned and the batter was thick with a heavy grease taste…the same for the chili shrimp. The food in the breakfast plate lacked seasoning as well. The grits were amazing…their best items were the shrimp and grits and the French toast.

Quite possibly the best breakfast I’ve ever eaten! We arrived here on a bit of a whim as we were staying nearby. However, it wasn’t on our list of “must try” spots, but it was close and they had breakfast so we decided to stop in. Am I glad we did! Although, it didn’t start off as smoothly as I would’ve liked. I was dead set on having the chicken and waffle, but I was informed they had no chicken that day! Ouch! I resorted to the French Toast with a side of the grits and bacon. Where do I start? The French Toast was AMAZING. Light, crispy, nice cinnamon touch with a hint of vanilla and not overly sweet! Perfect! Oh, the grits! The grits y’all! Sheesh. Basically, every review I read as I sat at the table prior to ordering demanded one try the grits! So thanks reviewers for that! The grits are out of this world. If only I could box ’em up and bring ’em home! Anyway, service was great as well. Wish we could’ve went back, but they were closed Mon-Wed and our time in Galveston ended before they were open again. Bit of a heads up, this part of Galveston, I guess it’s “Beachtown” is fairly “ritzy”. Doesn’t mean you have to be dressed up or anything, but I found it noticeable in the clientele and the surrounding vacation homes. Absolutely recommend going here!

Had a reservation so no wait. Was seated on the porch with a water view and heaters turned on. It was very warm and nice.

Don’t get food to go. I purchased the Gouda grits to go and it was $25 for 2 containers that had literally 3 tablespoons in each container . I have spent hundreds of dollars

We had the lamb popsicles and they were overcooked and lacked flavor, however the sweet chili shrimp was great. The view was nice from the patio but there were flies everywhere. I understand flies are everywhere this time of year but there are things that can help with the flies. The service was ok, our waitress seemed to be new and a little overwhelmed. The one good thing was the place was nice and not crowded.

If I could rate this restaurant no stars I would. We made a reservation for 10 and upon arrival they were not prepared for our arrival when it came to having a waiter for us. It took them an hour before we were even given our drinks let alone refills. When it came to ordering our food there were multiple dishes that they said were not being served that day due to them running out. We had to switch our meals around on multiple counts due to the lack of inventory. When it came to the chef getting our order wrong and bringing out the wrong dishes we were fed up. My father never got his meal and some of our party never got our drinks that were ordered in the beginning of our arrival. The management was very unprofessional and the staff overall was understaffed. Our waiter was very understanding of our frustration but this was our first time here and we had high hopes of an amazing experience due to the reviews online. We will probably never be coming back again after the experience we had.

Good food and service! I had the crab cake sandwich, which is topped with a fried green tomato and served with parmesan truffle fries. We also had the shrimp appetizer and deviled eggs, which were both great. Our server was very friendly and attentive.
