My family’s from New England, so my wife and I are there a couple times a year visiting family. New Hampshire and Massachusetts have some of the best pizza in the country. This place has some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. Definitely the best pizza I’ve found in Alabama, or anywhere below the Mason/Dixon line for that matter. Friendly owner with Italian heritage, great service, reasonably priced, homemade with fresh ingredients. You can’t go wrong. I live in Columbiana, which is about 35 minutes from here, but will gladly drive the distance the next time I want pizza. I’ve grown up in the south my whole life, and unfortunately a lot of people around here don’t know what good food tastes like. THIS is good food! 5 stars ALL DAY

We found this awesome little gem in a small town. Food was great! Especially the BBQ pulled pork pizza. Hopefully this town enjoys it’s convenient store pizza, because the little shop is packing up on Saturday and moving on to a better clientele. Sucks for the town, but I’ll bet the next town will be greatful to have such a wonderful pizzeria moving in. Thank you for making us feel right at home with good food and good company.

My husband and I have lived in Alabama for 2.5 years and have been waiting to find a local pizza joint that we love. We’ve been disappointed with the lack of local restaurants in the Alabaster and surrounding area, where we live, and heard/read good things about Vertillo’s. We made the drive down to Thorsby and were not disappointed! Their crust was delicious as were their toppings. A lot of restaurants are shy with their sauce, despite us always asking for extra, but Marlene and her staff did not let us down! We highly recommend and can not wait to go back! Maybe someday they’ll be close enough for us to enjoy as often as we like!

We heard about this place from my wifes friend. She raved about how good it was. So we drove down to try it. I have to say it is well worth the drive. The bbq chicken pizza is great. We also tried the all meat that is just as good. I have to say it is about time someone here in Alabama has some good marinara sauce. I like the seasoning and flavor. We will be back. We also liked that it has a drive up window.

Got two pizzas and a calzone, the wait time was as expected for fresh pizza. And it was still hot and cool enough to enjoy when I got home 30 minutes later. The cashier and, I presume, owner were so nice and talked to us as we waited. And after a climactic wait, the owner showed off her passion in a cardboard box. I mean this in a good way. If you are looking for a little home cooking that gives you time to talk to your family, Vertillo’s is a destination worth your taste buds!

It’s a small business yet, this lady has the best pizza and very friendly. My son who has autism loves her pizza and has made a bond with the owner. More people need to eat here homemade small town business. What more can you ask for?
