I visited 4 BBQ places on my most recent visit to Texas and the other 3 didn’t even stand up to Rump’s. Carlos and his crew are absolutely great, the ribeye is hand cut and grilled to perfection. The turkey breast is so good as well. This is a must visit place near Palestine.

I ordered the ribeye again. Same as last two visits. The first two were perfect in taste and tenderness. Sadly, this one had a tad too much black pepper and a lot of fat. I know steaks are as hard to predict as brisket so I still gave 5 stars. Owners and staff are very friendly.

Great place to eat. We had brisket, turkey, sausage, gumbo, fried okra, pinto beans, and French fries. The fries were from a frozen bag and a bit disappointing. The okra looked like it might have been, too, but it tasted pretty good. Everything else was fantastic! The sausage and bbq sauce were like I had never had before- very unique to the restaurant. The brisket had a beautiful smoke ring and decent bark. The pinto beans were amazing! The gumbo was some of the best we had ever had. The name is Rump’s and the image is the backside of a pig, but they don’t have pulled pork anywhere in the menu. I thought I was going to get some great pulled pork only to be disappointed that it was not even offered.

Rump’s is a little off the beaten path, but so worth the drive!!! The food is always great, fresh, and the best catfish I have ever had. (And I didn’t like catfish before trying theirs!)

Omg ! The desserts Better grab one as soon as you walk in the door or it may vanish ! Absolutely wonderful place to be ….especially if you’re hungry !
