Type : Restaurant

Location : Azusa, CA

Established in 2019, Azusa is the second of two Lajamaya Salvadorean Restaurant locations. Ruth is and continues to be the original owner. She was born in El Salvador and came to the US in the 80s. Her mother owned a restaurant and taught Ruth to cook as a child.
Ruth was an accountant for 12 years for a supermarket but dreamed of having her own business venture someday.
Her first job was working quality control for the health department and oversaw mass food production for schools and hospitals which gave her great insight on food production in the United States. With the help of her husband, she opened Lajamaya Salvadorean and offered all the traditional recipes her mother made when she was growing up.

Excellent customer service, the food was delicious. I ordered a pupusa and a combination plate with casamiento, fried plantains , chorizo sour cream and a piece of cheese, it was super good also the ensalada( a Salvadoran fruit drink ) was also very good

I originally would go to the La Puente location. But now that this one opened, I’ll be visiting it more often! Perfect quality pupusas, friendly service, and very clean. Just as good as the La Jamaya in LP. If you like pupusas with stringy cheese and warm soft beans, this is your place to go. La Jamaya is my favorite pupuseria and I’m so happy they’ve expanded closer to me.

The woman cashier needs to be replaced with someone that’s friendly!!! Someone that knows how to greet people! If she doesn’t like to deal with people she shouldn’t be a cashier! The food was ok, but l was turned off by the personnel, so l wouldn’t go back.

I always come to this place with my boyfriend and it’s so delicious! Every single one of their pupusas are amazing and the maracuya is delicious! As a fellow Central American these traditional dishes really take me back! Service and food do not disappoint!

All the tables were dirty. Lady was saving food that was not touched or still packed. Another customer came in and like ourself and had no where to sit and eat. We were a party of 5 and kept an eye on the lady to make sure she did not pack us some of the food she was putting to the side from the dirty tables

We waited a long time to get our food. The food did not taste good and the prices didn’t match the menu. The tamales were 2.75 on the menu but they insisted it was $3. That is very misleading. The salsa is pure water no flavor. The curtido was just cabbage. The pupusas are paper thin. They hardly have anything inside. The soups are $15 but they come on a small container. It’s not worth the super expensive amount for the poor quality food. It was the first and last time we go to the restaurant. Not worth it.

I’m not going to lie the pupusas are delicious but the service there is horrible the only reason I’m writing a review is because it’s the third time it happens to me and enough is enough very rude lady that takes your order. worst customer service ever, like I said food is great but service horrible they have lost a good customer.

The food is good yet the portions are kind of small and the wait for food is kind of long it’s better if you order ahead of time.
