Sublime downtown quality and service off the peninsula. I could not put down my burger. Fries were well salted and cooked consistently. The James Island iced tea was sweet, tart and refreshing. Service was classier than most downtown restaurants. They were not understaffed and took pride in their product. We will be back with friends.

This a higher-end bar and grill. Lively atmosphere and attentive and friendly staff (our server Kathy was great). Reservations are recommended. They have an extensive wine list and a full bar. Happy hour is 5-6 everyday. They have a classic menu with steak and seafood as highlights. We were welcomed with a smile invited to have a drink and a seat while we waited for a bar table. We ordered prime rib, a nice thick perfectly prepared cut that came with a side of tasty creamy potatoes. You can accompany with add-ons. We also ordered a prime rib melt with a spicy Caesar (a spin on the classic Caesar salad). The prime rib melt was infused with a creamy horseradish, not to harsh, just the right amount! Chocolate martini and espresso martini were very decadent and could have complimented dinner perfectly on their own as dessert, but couldn’t resist and ordered creme brulee it was fabulous! This might be one of my new favorite restaurants!

Fantastic new spot! Food was excellent, our server Heather was attentive and friendly. We didn’t have a reservation but able to get a high top in the bar area. The best part was this cocktail with an aromatic bubble! Boogie nights I think it was called. Definitely will be going back.

Ribs were great with a ton of meat on them. Crab cakes weren’t exactly MD style but was glad to see they weren’t flattened to a pancake and sauteed, market price was higher then expected on them but we didn’t ask before ordering so no issue there.

We enjoyed a delicious meal at The James last weekend. My ribeye was cooked perfectly (medium rare), the brocolini had a nice char that paired well with the garlic aioli, the mac and cheese was creamy, and the filet oscar style was fork tender. The waitstaff was attentive and there is parking available in front of and behind the building.

We were impressed with everything. The women at the hostess stand were welcoming and eager to seat us (we didn’t have a reservation). The bartender was attentive and friendly, quickly getting our drinks to enjoy while we waited. We were seated earlier than expected given the estimated wait time and honestly felt like we treated as special guests. It seemed all the patrons were. The space has been beautifully redone making it feel like a place for a special occasion, classy and fun. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was the best I’ve experienced in a long time. We are looking forward to making The James our new regular spot.

Everything was great except for the bar area. We went early before our reservations and found that there was no room at the bar to sit because everyone at the bar were eating dinner. Not even a space to stand. If you are looking to go just for cocktails at the bar…don’t. Food and service were great.

The food was absolutely delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly, and the key lime pie is to die for. Our server, Jessica, was so sweet! Super professional, extremely kind, and went above and beyond for us! The atmosphere is so calming, even when the restaurant didn’t have an empty seat the entire time we were there! If you haven’t tried here yet, please do!

The James is a welcome and long overdue elevated dining and cocktail spot in James Island. Everything from start to finish was executed extremely well. Going to a new restaurant you never know how things will go but it seems my experience is very similar to others who have gone. I neglected to make reservations since it was a last minute “we don’t want to make dinner tonight choice”. We arrived and it was very busy, to be honest we almost left to try another time but the hostess, Beth was so friendly and welcoming we decided to take our chances on waiting for a couple seats to open in bar area. I was so caught off guard by her genuine hospitality that I actually asked what her name was.

Great new restaurant in Charleston where there are many but this one stood out because of the relaxing ambience, great food and most importantly the unbelievable service from Robbie (Robert). He cared about our experience and it showed in how attentive he was and every aspect of the meal. The Tile Fish was great as was the hamburger and their Old Fashion was on point.
