Rode up here just to try the hot dogs. I’d say they were about average. Buns were on the cool side and the chili and slaw, while good, didn’t really standout. Fries were good. Otherwise, the service was excellent and very friendly despite me being an outsider amidst regulars. And the atmosphere was great. I mean, look at the place and the name – how can you go wrong with a place like this when it comes to character. Overall I rated it a 4, but really it is more like a 4.7.

Folks if you are a local then you know that Mama Possum is the place to go for the best cheeseburger or hot dog around. If you are passing through town and want a bite to eat well I suggest you program the GPS to Mama Possum’s address. Now it’s nothing fancy but it’s been in business for over 40 years and it’s the only place you can just drive up and someone will come out to your car and take your order and within minutes bring you back a hot delicious meal. Local landmark of great food.

If you’re a fan of old school burger joints then you’ve struck gold. Try the Brunswick Stew and the beef hot dogs !! Set you clock back to 1963 :-). Car hop service or eat in. Menu is limited but classic. (VA state representative spotted on my recent visit.) Don’t blink or you’ll miss it.

Loved the atmosphere and service. Marilyn and Tara were amazing and friendly and made me feel like we had known each other for years!! The food was good and tasty but I didn’t think the beef patty on the cheeseburger was anything special. Still it was tasty. Too bad they don’t sell T-shirts. Mama Possum would look cool on a T-shirt

The elderly lady that comes out to the cars to take our order seem like she wasn’t in the mood that day she was rude forgetful on what we were asking for because she was trying to take our 2 separate order on top of a car order she took before my vehicle order yet she was frustrated with us because she was taking on more then she could handle. To be honest she been taking the outside orders for so long I think its time she just be an inside server because she was not the nicest that day at all .
