Nestled in The Hill in St. Louis, Lorenzo’s Trattoria distinguishes itself with its Northern Italian fare that carries a contemporary touch, setting it apart from the traditional offerings of the region. Its classy and laid-back atmosphere creates a versatile dining environment, perfect for a business dinner or a family meal. However, despite its refined setting and reasonable prices, my experience was a mixed bag, earning it a 3-star rating on my scale.

I thought the food was just okay. The service was so-so and for the price it was lacking as far as quality. The bread was a little stale. The butter was cold and hard. The flavor was just missing. The menu is pretty small and they don’t offer very many wines by the glass. Nice atmosphere.

This place was wonderful! We came across town from The Grove (where we were staying in St. Louis) and it was completely worth the trip. All of our dishes were delicious, the service was impeccable, the atmosphere was better than expected. When traveling in St. Louis, we will be back as this has become a family favorite. Highly recommended and will be coming back.

The ambiance is so nice and the people are not loud or boisterous either.

Last night, my friend and I had a fantastic dinner at Lorenzo’s. The house salad was so light and tasted amazing! We asked if we could buy some of the salad dressing to take home. The owner was very nice and made that happen for us. We also had their spaghetti with beef Bolognese. The Bolognese sauce was very rich and had such a deep flavor. It was delicious! Our server, Matt, was wonderful and it was an overall lovely dining experience. We will be back for certain!

I think if you read some of the more recent reviews you’ll see this restaurant’s time has passed. We started with the arancini which was somehow bland. I enjoyed the house salad, but my wife didn’t have any pistachios with hers and said it wasn’t very good. We guessed the salad came bagged. She said her tortellini tasted like it likely wasn’t homemade and I agreed. Finally, my Osso Bucco was a complete disappointment. While the sauce was alright and the risotto was prepared well, the meat completely lacked in flavor. The only highlight of our experience was the espresso martini. For the price, I can think of a dozen restaurants where we would rather spend our money. We won’t be back.

Last night I had dinner on the Hill at Lorenzo’s Trattoria. What a meal! I started with a salad made with tomato and fresh mozzarella, red onions, capers, Kalamata olives, fresh basil covered with a red wine vinaigrette dressing. This was a real pleasure!

Everything was pretty good. The spaghetti sauce had a bit of an odd flavor that we didn’t care for. But the chicken and asparagus dish was wonderful l.

First time here: we went early, at 5:00 pm. We had the dining room to ourselves for most of the meal. Hubby ordered the ribeye steak special, with white wine, prosciutto, and mushroom sauce. Delicious! My chicken risotto was ok, cubed chicken in a risotto sauce. It was a little overpowering with cheeses. And I’m a huge cheese lover! Tirimisu and Creme Brulee were exquisite!!!! Service was very attentive!

Was my husband’s birthday. I wanted to surprise him with a cake and the waitress came out and said who’s the birthday boy. I was like really! I made it clear it was a surprise. Food was way over priced.
