Small town, MIddle America is where the legend of Big Whiskey’s began. Throughout those 30 years this little corner tavern acquired quite a few regulars, but one of those regulars became a legend. My grandfather said this man wasn’t the average customer. He only came in a couple times a week and it was always between the hours of 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. He had done it for so many years it became tradition. The same thing each time…he’d come in, have a seat and proceed with his order. He would always tell the bartender, “I’m only going to have one, so make it a big one.” Over the years of him coming in to my grandfather’s place and performing his ritual, he eventually became known as “Big Whiskey.”

Just not good. From the hostess to the music selection and everything in between was bad. The server had an attitude the entire time for no reason at all. The food came out hot but my plate was reheated. Like everything was dried out from the vegetables, to the salmon to the rice. It was all microwaved. I hated my entire experience at this place I will never come here again.

I had high hopes for this place. The fried pickle and jalapeño appetizer was great. Service was not very fast but that’s understandable since it was pretty busy. They advertised in the ribeye steak description that they are not responsible for well done steaks, so I was like cool. They understand how to cook a steak. I ordered a steak medium and received a very well done steak. Nicely seasoned so it’s a shame they had to overcook it. The mashed potatoes were really good.

I do not like to leave 1 star reviews, but this was def worth it. The only reason it should get 1 star and not 0 is because the staff was nice. We have been to many big whiskeys, with Tulsa OK and Branson MO being our favorites. This one was HORRIBLE. Our $25 steaks were 97% fat! The mashed potatoes were dry. Sweet tea was NOT sweet, it tasted soured like it had sat all day. Parking was not pleasant. We will NOT return to this location. Our ticket was over $90 for two of us and they clearly seen we did not hardly eat anything (kept offering to go boxes) yet they were not about to ask how our meal was nor did they offer to replace or refund anything. We left here and had to go through a drive thru to get full before going to our event. 🙁

Wine glass had someone else’s lipstick on it. Salmon and broccoli was excellent. The rice tasted like it came out of a box but was dry. Service was fine. Our waitress was not one of the many staff members lounging in the corner. We were taken aback by this.

We went here for dinner on recommendation of a friend who I would later find had not been here in several years. Let’s just say I think the service may have gone downhill. We got there a little after 7. Their posted hours are until 9pm. There was no sign on the door suggesting different and no one offered that information… which would’ve been completely acceptable considering you’re there for dinner and it took until 730+ to get our food anyway. ( not a long wait, no complaints there) then out of the blue they say last call. That was at 8pm. Then they start putting all the chairs up and casually mention “we’re closing at 8 tonight” lol. The food was just meh. Nobody was overly impressed. Steak was cooked well done when ordered medium. Portions/prices all agreeable. It really just came down to very poor service. Drinks not filled. Lots of staff and only 3 tables being served… they were more focused on closing than service. I understand wanting to leave on time… absolutely. Just warn your potential guests so they have the opportunity to choose to rush to eat or go someplace they can be there awhile.

Came here to get a bite to eat before a going to see a show. Was greeted and seated right away. Drinks came out quick but my wings and fries was another story. I believe the server forgot to put my order in because people who came in after me got their food before I did. She gave me my check before I got my food. She apologized and that’s when I think she put my order in. My food was on the greasy side. Didn’t care for it too much.

Waitress left off an appetizer. My sister ordered her fries crispy, she said she would try and they were not as ordered. Be mindful that we ate there a month earlier and my sister got crispy fries. I, myself, ordered extra Alfredo sauce because my food was dry. Again, the answer was that she would try. When my sister ask about the extra sauce again, she said hold on. She did bring it but it was cold. I asked for the manager, who was extremely rude. Will not ever eat here again. We have always had good experience but Saturday was horrible.

3 other people + me had to wait at front for 2-3 minutes before we was noticed by anyone working there. And to be seated. I ordered and ate a cheese burger with everything but onions & pickles. The hamburger was pretty good. But my fries were either flimsy, sogy, and tasted like it had been soaked in grease. Or were overcooked, brown, & crunchy. They weren’t McDonald’s fries that’s for sure. Lmao. The tea was pretty good. I drank 4 glasses of it. Sitting at the bar I was hoping to see the bar tenders get fancy and tricky with the bottles when making drinks. But they weren’t.

Not expensive but food not so great either. Buffalo chicken pasta in cream sauce just didn’t make any sense, and was unfortunately bland. Blackened salmon had too many spices…cook should use iron cast skillet so can rely less on spices that ended up being caked on and masked salmon taste. Pizza ok…can’t complain…was $10. Plus kids like it.
