2017 review: Server was attentive. Brought out chips and salsa almost immediately after we sat down. The salsa was yummy with a nice amount of spice. The taco combo plate was good. Jan2018 update: Downgraded from 4 stars to 3 stars. Visited the place a year later. A different type of service this time. Look a while for the server to take our order. Chips and salsa never came. Asked about the chip and finally someone said they are making a new batch, then another server came later to say they were all out. We order an appetizer instead to tie us over until the meal came. The meals came out first. The appetizer came out after one of the members of the party finished the meal already.

Went here as a recommendation from a friend. He suggested the chili Verde. It didn’t disappoint. The pork simply fell apart. The portions were large but not too much. I know this is silly but the salsa on the chips and salsa appetizer that they give you for free was really good. I would also recommend the horchata.

We had the fish tacos, Mexican Flag (enchiladas), quesadilla, and the Oaxaca chicken zucchini. All was fabulous! Passing through town, wandering north, glad we stopped. Light music, friendly staff.

Stopped in on a whim. I ordered the extra large burrito for $15. I was pleasantly surprised when this ginormous burrito was presented to me. Definitely enough to feed two. I ended up taking half home for later.

The 7 year old says the salsa was good, a bit spicy but good and the chips were tasty. Corn dog and fries were muah, muah. The horchata is taaasssty.

Rarely am I disappointed with a Mexican restaurant in California. My wife ordered steak and I had a fajita, so it’s very hard to go wrong with either, as both always taste great. However, what stood out about Olvera’s was that the salsa was probably the best I have ever tasted (and I usually don’t even like salsa very much). This made the tortilla chips seem like part of the meal, rather than a way to kill time while the meal is cooking. Also, the beans and rice had a noticeably delicious flavor. I was quite happy that we picked this place.

Got there right when they opened on our way to death valley. Mexican pizzas did not disappoint! Delicious. The omelette was really good too. People were friendly, space was clean and cozy.
