First of all this place is GREAT to bring your vegan friends for very creative unconventional menu items. That being said I would have liked to see more conventional vegan or vegetarian items. Some of the things (like the Mac and cheese) looked so much like Mac and cheese but had a sweetness to it that for me was off-putting when I’m expecting salty. My friend liked it but both my husband and I found it disconcerting. The veggie bowl however was delicious. Tasted like a chirashi would but with more veggies and minus the fish (though I honestly would have loved it even more with the fish) The sushi rice was well done. The burger was ok. Too much sauce so masked the lovely Kobe patty and the bread was a little too soft for my taste. The egg sandwich was totally inedible. Once again too much sweet sour sauce. I applaud the creativity but wish everything could be kept a tiny bit more simple so the ingredients can shine. The place is super cute on a corner and I badly wanted to love the food. I have heard the egg rolls are good (we ordered it but it never came so we had to cancel). Because we are in the neighbourhood a lot I would probably try it again but different items.

My husband found this gem while on vacation in NOLA. We’re always looking for vegan fare when we travel, and this did not disappoint. I ordered the Sneaky Pickle plate (and giggled as I did) and my jaw dropped when they brought it out. Who’d have thought “The Sneaky Pickle Plate” would be rainbow art, too pretty to eat?? I was legitimately sad to destroy it.

We had the pleasure of dining at Bar Brine recently and came away very impressed. Great atmosphere with delicious food and cocktails. We tried many dishes and the squid ink pasta, mackerel crudo and buffalo tofu lettuce wraps were some of our favorites. Get over to the Bywater and try this food!

Reuben: I was underwhelmed. I thought that the bread was too thick and oversaturated with thousand island dressing. And there was hardly any tempeh. It was mostly cabbage, bread, and dressing. And the little tempeh that I could taste had a strange flavor.

Just delicious! the place to go if you want real cuisine that’s health conscious. They have decadent food also- a great option for a group that needs a wide range of options.

I have been to Sneaky Pickle multiple times for lunch and always love it – the Mac and Cheese is a thing of dreams. This was my first time at Bar Brine. I got the trumpet mushroom dish and didn’t love the flavor combination. My friend got the oxtail curry, and while the sauce was great, it was almost all fat. While we know oxtail is fatty, we weren’t quite prepared for that much fat. The fries were tasty, and their savory cocktail, For Whom the Bell Peppers, is a cool concept.

Fantastic all around, however important to note that the Flower Child cocktail was the best cocktail I’ve had out in years. Anna, our server, was also a true highlight of the evening. Had a great time.

This was one of the highlights of a food and drinks focused trip to New Orleans. While the menu is predominantly vegetarian/vegan focused, it was some of the best food of any kind I had on the trip, animal based or otherwise. The cocktails were also delicious and inventive. The staff was friendly even as we arrived late in the evening and were trying to get a meal in before closing. Definitely a place I would revisit the next time I’m in town.

A cool place to eat FRESH tasty food. My wife and I enjoyed lunch. She had a greens plate with Japanese turnips – tasty. I had an egg sandwich with sweet potato slice and brioche bun. Actually filling!
