We were staying at the resort and decided to have lunch there this last weekend with extended family. Food is mediocre. Prices are way too high. Servers weren’t that great. We waited a long time for our meal and there was hardly anyone there. Without tip, for 3 people, our bill was $170. Yes, we knew what we were paying, but it was definitely not worth it. Food was way overpriced. Lave cake…that was a joke. They were out of cheesecake, so that’s what my daughter settled on. The lava cake was a white and chocolate cake with chocolate drizzled on the plate below the cake. If we ever go back to Oblebay, we will not be eating there.

We stayed for the weekend. The resort itself is beautiful. We made reservations for the seafood buffet and I would never recommend it to anyone. The food was below par. Out of 4 in the group 3 had food poisoning (1 person only ate salad and dessert, no seafood). I was so disappointed as the menu looked amazing for it and for $45 a person it should’ve been a lot better than what it was. The next day we tried the breakfast buffet. It was much better but 2/4 people couldn’t eat still as they were still severely ill from the food the night before. The breakfast buffet was nice as food was way more fresh. Overall breakfast is a 4/5 and seafood buffet a 0/5

Service okay, not Resort level, but on par w Perkins or Dennys. Temp help is used during busy holiday periods. Food presentation has issues. We had dinner & breakfast buffets. The hooded food warmers were inneffective at both, unable to keep contents above tepid levels- bacteria’s primetime. The Ex Chef (if any) needs to use a food thermometer before the Health Dept arrives with their own. Caveat emptor.

We went over the weekend for breakfast. The location is elegant, and the breakfast was good. Service was good and understanding of the mess my children made. Price was a little steep, but the view was beautiful.

I was seated promptly and all beverages are included with the breakfast tab, which is the end of my compliments for the operation of this dining room. Food quality for breakfast was atrocious, significantly worse than that of a hospital cafeteria, with inedible pancakes, dry and cold scrambled eggs, and undercooked floppy bacon.

We have made a tradition here every December before Christmas to have our wedding anniversary dinner. Often we bring many family members and have many great memories. After skipping a year due to Covid, we came back for dinner on Dec. 11th. As always, we get the buffet and enjoy time with our family. Sadly, the food has gone downhill and the prices have skyrocketed. The vegetable melody clearly came from a can, and the other items were sub-par. A far cry from what this buffet use to be and the quality did not come close to the price.

I hope that Oglebay management checks reviews and responds appropriately with their staff and service. The manager during our visit to the Ihlenfeld Dining Room knew that there were issues and gave up quickly on damage control after checking on us when the server notified him of issues with our meal.

The food was subpar at best for the price. Service was even worse. Our waitress seemed out of breath every time she stopped at our table, though the dining room was almost empty. We were made to feel like we were putting her out anytime we asked for something. Our food took a ridiculously long time. We were at our table for almost fifteen minutes before we received our drinks. To top it off, our waitress dropped the check after we paid and said nothing. Not even a “have a good evening.” I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, due mostly to the service we received.
