We’ve proudly served Lexington’s South neighborhoods for a little over 6 years now. It all started as a small idea that developed into a reality. We are a family owned and operated restaurant with a little over 15 employees. As of now, El Charro on Old Harrodsburg Rd is our only location but we do dream of opening a second location in the future.

We’ve worked hard to provide our customers with fresh and delicious food made with the best quality of ingredients. We incorporate food that the majority of customers will be delighted to enjoy. We are constantly working on providing our customers with the best service and atmosphere.

My family and I have been eating here for nearly a decade, and when I say I have NEVER had a bad experience, I mean it. I’m very picky with my food and it takes one bad experience for me to never eat somewhere again because of that. The fact that I’m going on 10 years of eating here should be a sign of how amazing this place is. I legitimately eat here at least once, if not twice or three times a week. I’ve tried probably 3/4 of the menu over the past 9 years or so, and everything is amazing. The staff goes above and beyond to make your experience the best it can be. Not only that, but they are so personable and make it so clear that they care about your experience. Mexican food is my absolute favorite and I’ve probably been to hundreds of Mexican restaurants in my 22 years of life. I’m being 100% honest when I say if I had to eat only one restaurant’s food for the rest of my life, it would be El Charro. I’ve eaten at both locations and they NEVER fail to provide the best meal. Whether you are a Lexington local or are traveling, it would be a big mistake of yours to skip out on this restaurant!!!

Delicious Mexican food in a beautiful modern restaurant. I had the chicken fajitas and found them to be well seasoned and delicious. I especially enjoyed their homemade tomatillo salsa verde drizzled on my fajitas. My son had the chicken burrito with cheese sauce added to it. He said that it was great. The chips and salsa were good as well. My son ordered a large order of the cheese dip and it had a really good flavor. Our server took great care of us. I would definitely recommend trying them out If you’re in the area. Nice neighborhood hangout!

Amazing place and food, great atmosphere and exceptional customer service. My waiter was Miguel and Jennifer helped in answering any questions I had when he was attending to other customers. They even sang happy birthday to me (my birthday was on Saturday). He did inform me that it was against the rules to celebrate after your actual birthday date but they made an exception since I was in another State at the time. Beyond a first time experience I’ll definitely be back.

The food is always great here. They renovated a while back and you wouldn’t think Mexican food in comparison to the other Mexican restaurants, more like a cafeteria not in the since of serve yourself but In the layout of the seating and everything is painted gray. but they are always very nice and I’ve never heard a bad word about service or the food and I’ve been eating there since they first opened.

I’ve never been treated so well the way the waiting staff and owner have treated my family and I! Servers are super friendly and I noticed they have several regulars that absolutely love them. The food was scrumptious I had the enchiladas and the chorizo queso dip I definitely recommend ! And the watermelon margarita was perfect !

I usually take out and not dine in. Great margaritas and the have a happy hour 2 for 1 late weekday afternoons. They are pretty tight on their chips on take out orders. Better to buy the large quest dip, regular size not enough. Great food, especially quesidillas

Okay, I had heard that they have a very good lunch. I visited for dinner. Probably won’t do that again. Service was very attentive and accomidating. Chips were from a bag and salsas limited to two mild, red and green. Not impressed. Meals were served quick but, fajitas were too hot to eat so rice and refried beans were cold before I could make a rubbery fajita. The tortias are nucked and very rubbery when served. I’m sure they have good dishes but not fajitas. I’ll try again, but I know better restaraunts.
