A family friend suggested this place as the best Mexican restaurant in Shelbyville, KY. There are MANY to choose from so I took her suggestion and do not need to look any further. Turns out first time is the charm with this one. Man! I cannot tell you how pleasantly surprised I was with Marimba. The food was so hot and fresh. Their flavors are fantastic. I made a combo with a chicken and a beef burrito and a beef taco, which I ate every bit of. Absolutely delicious; but! I was a little jealous of my wife’s plate of perfectly seasoned carnita chunks. We have also visited their buffet they have on Friday’s and sundays and loved being able to sample other flavors they have. Marimbas is our go to Mexican restaurant from now on. It’s just fresh and fabulous.

Just went here on a beautiful day, unfortunately, the patio wasn’t open. Sat inside. The entire pace smelled like cigarettes, like someone was literally smoking indoors while we were there. We came in for a beer and a small appetizer. The food was pretty disappointing as you can see from the picture, but not unexpected since we didn’t order an entree. Cheese quesadilla around $5. The part that bothered me most was the service though. Carmen was out hostess/server and she literally said maybe 3 words to us. Never even cracked a smile. Seemed like we were nothing more than a nuisance to her. We drove here from Middletown, thought we’d try something new….won’t be back.

Guys, you should try this place!!! Server was patient (we were waiting on 3 more in our party). The atmosphere is wonderful, pleasing and friendly. Kid friendly great for hanging out with friends and family. Food was absolutely great and drinks was served cold like it should be. Definitely worth another visit.
