So far I’ve tried the pizza, the burger, the cheese curds, and the Italian sausage hotdog. The pizza was great. The bread had great fIavor, which is rare. The sauce and cheese were evenly proportioned. The toppings were fresh and well cooked. I tried it with the balsamic upon Mateos recommendation and it a great pairing. The burger was very good. I often find the meat can by dry on burgers but that wasn’t the case here. The meat was moist but it wasn’t one of those burgers that wets the bun. It was perfectly balanced. The cheese curds are always good. One time they were a bit salty but with the sweet chili sauce it was still ok. I still order them with less added salt but it’s personal preference. The Italian dog certainly is well cooked. The sausage itself has a bit of a tough skin like a bratwurst so expect that. I think they could use a slightly bigger bun because I kind of had to eat it dissembled but it was still satisfying. All the food and service I’ve had at Mateos is certainly a cut above most of what I’ve tried even outside of Jacksonville. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for well prepared and flavorful food. For a restaurant inside of a brewery this place not only holds its own with dedicated food restaurants but exceeds their quality in more than one way.

This is by far one of my favorite places to eat in Jax. My husband and I often talk about how delicious the food is. I almost always order the pizza because of how good it is, but his burgers, cheesesteaks and grilled cheese are amazing too! Honestly you won’t regret whatever you get.

Service here is always great. I think it’s the owner, but the man who’s always there is so kind. Food is good too! I recommend a smashburger, or one of the grilled cheese options. French fries are the bomb, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, perfect.
