I have to admit I have lived in Oceanside my whole entire life and I’m sad I haven’t been to jimmy hays earlier. The steak was delicious. I got the special for the night which was like a porterhouse type steak with like a lobster bisque type topping and sauce on the sides of it. I enjoyed it so much and literally was licking the plate after. I also had the privilege of having the grilled octopus, fried zucchini, onion rings, mashed potatoes, and creamed spinach. Everything was amazing. This restaurants only flaw is that we (myself + 3 other) came at around 6ish reservation and all and it really wasn’t even that busy but we had another full table (6+) right on top of us right by the entrance. I don’t know why we wouldn’t be separated. Nevertheless I loved the food and will be back.

Jimmy Hays Steak house is supposed to be the Peter Luger of Long beach but this place not even close it. This was my first time at this restaurant for my buddy’s birthday. Service was slow, bacon was not good at all and jumbo shrimps were very small compared to other steak houses. Rest of the food steak and side dishes were fine. Overall, I enjoyed the food but I am not sure if I would try this place again.

I was recommended this place by a local in the area and I was highly disappointed. Me and my friend are steak girls and love trying new steak places. Not only were we there for a celebration(she can’t drink hint hint / I also don’t drink) we could tell our server was upset about that he huff and puffed throughout our time there. He seemed very annoyed to serve us. We ordered baked clams to start which comes in a half or full order, without asking he just gave us a full order for two people, they were good but too many for us and never considered the rest of our order, which we order a lot- the bacon was great! He told us on the menu there’s something called sliced steak. We asked him what cut and he said it was a porterhouse, when we got it it was different cuts of meat and a bone that wasn’t part of the meat. It was very strange and not fresh looking. We were so shocked. We came to try a new place/ the steak…but maybe it was just the waiter but sadly, that wasn’t the only thing that will make me not go back there.

Exactly what I expected from a steakhouse. To start we had the Caesar salad and lobster bisque. The price point on the starters were a bit steep but expected. We ordered the porterhouse for two which was obviously the highlight. We like our steak medium rare and they cooked it perfectly. Excited to come back.

It’s a bit loud, but the food and the service more than make up for it. I was looking for surf and turf on the menu to no avail. Whether devine fate or not, it was one of the specials of the night! Amazing food, loved every last bite! Everything was cooked absolutely perfect. The staff was really above and beyond. Highly recommended.

I’m not giving a 5 star because I know anyone at this restaurant. Tuesday was my first time to the restuarant in over 40 years living in town! The owner was extremely hospitality and couldn’t stop getting up to greet patrons and thank them for coming as they left. The food was perfectly done.
