We had such a great experience at Lewis, Barbecue in Charleston, SC. They open at 11AM and we got there a few minutes later and only had to wait about 20 minutes. The line was super quick and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. They had so many good things, we didn’t even know what to order. We end up getting almost everything. We got brisket, half fat, half lean. We got one each of the sausages that we’re both out of this universe. We also got mac & cheese, potato salad, the corn pudding, coleslaw and the beans. Everything was so delicious and well prepared and seasoned. The special was the chicken fried steak and we all shared that and it was also mouthwatering. It was cooked perfectly and had the best sauce. It came with mashed potatoes and two sides. They also had a really great bar with specialty drinks that were well priced. They also had a great beer selection as well. Cannot wait to go back and have it again!!

Went for the amazing beef and cheddar special on Fridays. Had some brisket as well, which was the best brisket I’ve ever tasted. Mac and cheese was on point. Collards were well cooked and seasoned. Loved everything we ate!

Southern BBQ joint, pretty classic as you go up and order the meats you want, then head to the sides, and grab your drinks. They have bar for more than just canned beer, lots of seating inside and out, and a back smokehouse that is constantly busy. The moist brisket here is excellent although heavy and rich even with the bread, I would recommend getting around a quarter pound of that per person. The dry brisket that they give you If you don’t specify is also good but a single slice does more than enough to help balance the rich moist brisket. Free onions, red onions and pickles that are spicy, and plenty of barbecue sauce in large tubs that run freely as coffee containers allow. The fries are an interesting large cut, and the pulled pork isn’t bad. Spicy sausage didn’t suit me but other people like it. The special of the day was pastrami but that sandwich had sold out by 11:00 a.m… interesting to see what their prime rib special yesterday would have been, sad I missed that.

My friends visited this placed about 2 years ago during a visit to Charleston and they got impressed with their brisket, so I gave them a chance and wanted to try it myself. They were not wrong, the brisket and the pulled pork were awesome and tasty. Good selections for sides as well. The place is spacious for sitting, just be patient and ready to wait an hour or more on the line. Not too many parking slots, very limited. Staff sometimes not too efficient, people waiting on the line and they were talking and talking and not taking orders. The experience was good overall, the best BBQ I’ve ever had without doubt. Definitely a place you have to visit for a good BBQ experience.

We got here at 11am on a Monday morning and we served right away. We ordered brisket, ribs, fries and Mac-n-cheese. The brisket was the best we’ve ever had, the ribs were amazing, the mac-n-cheese was the superb and the fries were a good addition. Easily the best BBQ in Charleston.

This is one of the best BBQ joints I’ve ever been to in my life! Their brisket is delicious and smoked to perfection as is the sausage. The potato salad is on point. Same for the Mac and cheese. I’ve recommended this place to my friends and they were equally impressed. Parking is a little limited right by the restaurant, but there is another lot down the street with ample parking.

Best brisket we’ve ever eaten. The turkey, ribs, corn pudding, and Mac and Cheese were awesome, too. We believe it’s a must try when in Charleston.

Good spot for BBQ. This is a popular place so plan ahead for at least a 30min wait to order. Service was good though and we got to sample the fatty brisket before ordering. Ribs and sausages were also tasty. Collard greens were top notch though the mac and cheese was a bit dry and tasteless.
