The buying experience is terrible. You are forced to use an app/online purchasing tool which is mediocre at best and makes the whole service a worse experience. The servers did a great job, but the purchasing tool/ordering makes me and the other patrons not want to come back.

Great food and drinks. Lively atmosphere, be prepared for a loud-ish environment. Sat at the bar and enjoyed visiting with the bartenders. Will definitely come again. Was not put off by the QR code ordering , food and drinks came quickly on a super busy Friday night. Street corn dip was tasty, Margaritas were good, Pistols at Dawn was waaaaayyyy too smooth. Quesabarrio tacos were delicious and Al Pastor Quesadilla was tasty. Guacamole was good on the tacos, but nothing special on its own. Look forward to coming again.

First time, yummy cocktails! Yummy food. We had the corn dip which I recommend And other food that was all good. However the ordering situation was terrible. I personally don’t want to order every single thing I need off an app, and I don’t want to upload my credit card to an app. It really cheapened the experience if you ask me. The young man that welcomed us was very sweet and said he would help if we needed anything.. never saw him again. No one filled our waters, asked if we needed a box, or even room dirty plates away. I’ve been in the service industry for 12 years and always tip 25-30% but absolutely didn’t find it necessary to give more then 10%. Super cute look decor wise, like I said yummy cocktails and food just didn’t like the dining experience at all. I’m sure other people would think the non service is fine!

Went with my wife for date night. Really enjoyed the corn dip. Fish tacos birria and Al pastor were all great and so we’re the drinks, if you like mezcal drinks this is the place. Glad to find out you no longer have to order from an app. Only wish they brought hot sauce to the table with the food. They had a green sauce available when asked but wish it was spicier. The service was fast and friendly without being obtrusive.

My new favorite cocktails in Boise. Easy to bike to and a quaint restaurant/bar!

The word I would use to describe Barrio is disappointing. We were very excited to have a new restaurant in the neighborhood. We love tacos and cocktails and the decor was great so we were hoping this would be a regular spot for us. That was not the case. When we arrived we stood by the door for 10 minutes. Nobody that worked there looked at us, or acknowledged that we existed despite multiple food runners rushing by us. Should we wait for a host? Should we seat ourselves? Who knows? We finally decided to sit down at one of the open tables. That’s when we were shocked to discover they had adopted the Chili’s/Red Robin way of business where you order on a screen. Except this was worse because you have to download an app and add your credit card information before you can do anything else. Also, there are no servers. No servers! Only food runners who drop your stuff and run off. Have questions about the food? I hope not! Have questions about the multiple tequila options they have? Well, you better figure it out on your own!

Overall, a positive experience. The staff was great, the food was pretty good ($12 for two small street tacos – if you want the best deal get the quesadilla. Also, this is not the kind of place where you get free chips and salsa), but the drinks were the highlight. For a Wednesday night, it was surprisingly busy. It’s a pretty small space, so it was fairly loud. In our party of 5 sitting at a 4 top, it wasn’t always possible to hear each other very well. My biggest complaint would be you have to scan a QR code at your table to see the menu, order, and pay. When we arrived, there wasn’t a table available so we grabbed a drink at the counter seating near the door. When a table opened up, we had to close that tab and scan a new QR code at the new table. We ended up wasting a bunch of precious time on our phones figuring out the menu/payment system instead of catching up with each other. It probably wouldn’t have felt like such a pain if we had only been seated at one table and didn’t want to pay separately. It would be great to have the option to go old school – get a paper menu and order from a person.

Went with a vegetarian companion after a work friend of hers recommended. Drinks were pricey and strong and that was all they were good for with the two we got. I was not impressed with the all ordering on the phone option using a QR Code Reader to pull up the menu but hey technology is advancing the service industry. For anyone that is old school that does not have a smart phone, there are those people still out there, this is not the place for them.
