A goldmine! Since moving from New York to North Port in 2020, we have been “challenged” trying to find good Italian food in the area. Sadly, it took us 3 years to find La Rocca. But we are thrilled we did! This is no-nonsense, FANTASTIC food. I’m not blowing sunshine, I grew up eating the best Italian food from restaurants in Little Italy (both in Manhattan and Arthur Avenue in the Bronx). The food here is amazing. We had an amazing stuffed artichoke, absolutely incredible baked clams (the entire bread basket was gone sopping up the sauce on the plate) and one of the best chicken parm’s I’ve ever had. So thin, crispy, with great gravy. And I don’t know what the heck goes in their house salad dressing, but I want to do shots of it! It’s that good. I’m hungry again at 9am just thinking about it as I write this! Great martinis, good wine selection, and to top it off, a killer homemade tiramisu. The atmosphere is pretty plain-jane, but this isn’t 6th Avenue, who cares. We go out for the food. This has become our weekly destination. Love LaRocca! Thanks for saving us from “Florida” food 🙂

Im sure the owner will write back after this post, and thats fine, but the waitress was beyond rude when she asked how everything was,and the 3 of us didn’t like our meals, she said fine ill get the chef…he immediately had an attitude because we didn’t like our meals…1 calamari was frozen, with zero flavor..2 baked clams..worst I’ve ever had..3 Caesar salad was filled with curry chicken..yup curry chicken..4 chicken Alfredo had zero chicken, maybe it was sausage?,made with pappardelle ,again zero Alfredo, 5..ziti with fresh tomatoes and basil..IT was tomatoes and garlic with a side of pasta…

To be honest, it wasn’t what I expected. That being said the food was very good. I did get sticker shocked by the menu prices. The location and the decor / atmosphere doesn’t seem to warrant the$$. However the food was very good. We had eggplant parmesan and linguine puntanesca (?). You will also need not be in a hurry.

If you are looking for a place where you get yelled and talked down to because you have an issue with a dish then come here. The owner couple are the rudest owners I have ever met. Way over priced. Small portions. Flavor profile is way off. We walked in and were asked if we have a reservation but there was only two other tables in the whole place. That should have told us everything we needed to know. Terrible is the only word for it.

Great food all made to order! Got take out, and drove it about 15 mins home. Still was Great quality and enjoyed it a lot. They packaged up the hot and cold separate which so many places don’t take the time to do.

Giving a star so I could comment. I have never dined here and from the answers the owner/chef of the establishment has given, I never will. Shame because I had been thinking about it until I read the reviews and replies. No one needs to spend their hard earned money in such an atmosphere. Place looks like a dump on the outside. Same with it’s location. That’s why I’ve never stopped, and now sadly, since I feel the owner/chef is a very angry person, I won’t. I enjoy a peaceful atmosphere while dining. One can sense the atmosphere of a place as soon as you walk through the door. So, since I sense major anger from the owner/chef without even walking through the door, I will pass on dining here. You’re not entitled and no one owes you anything. Get over yourself.

We have been going past this place for a while now; thinking it looked too rundown and too rough. BUT we stopped in here a couple of days ago and were quite pleased that it is family owned by a family that cares about their customers. We went back tonight and had dinner. I ordered a cosmo which was “okay “. (I can make a better cosmo but I have had worse. ) we ordered chicken parmigiana and my partner ordered spaghetti and meatballs. The portions were perfect; no leftovers and just enough to satisfy us. The bread served before the meal was great but the oil served with it was very disappointing. It literally had NO flavor. Please serve it with minced garlic or Italian seasoning. It was a great experience and we will go back. Oh yes, I thought it was tacky that the owner sat at the bar eating her dinner in front of customers instead of eating at 4 (when the restaurant opened) or before it opened. The decor could use some updating.

I haven’t been able to eat Italian food in years because I am gluten free but they accommodated everything. Made it all very easy. I had the chicken piccata with GF pasta and everything was made to order. The salad was the freshest salad I’ve had in a long time. It really was so so good. We couldn’t stop raving. We really enjoyed our dinner and will be back.
