A good friend treated us to a meal here and it was my favorite hot pot experience. Definitely recommend trying the fresh lobster (you can choose one from the tank and pay by the lbs).

Coco Hot Pot was a pleasant surprise! We had planned a visit to Micro Center but waited until we got to the area to decide what we wanted for lunch. When we arrived we conisdered all the options. My daughter didn’t want Hoggy’s BBQ Aacross the street, much to my chargrine, and no one wanted anything familiar like a Chipotle or McDonald’s. We saw Coco Hot Pots, and everybody was at least open to Asian, so I stepped in to see a menu.

Great, authentic hot pot! Our favorite broth is the mushroom broth. Making your own dipping sauces at the bar is a MUST!

We stopped by for dinner. We started with some dumplings in chili oil. The hot and spicy oil was great to give the dumpling a punch. I would highly recommend that. Moving on to the main course we ordered the hotpot. This is the first time that we tried Chinese hotpot, and as an inexperienced it didn’t turn out that wonderful. We chose a selection of three soup bases, and a beef combo. We mostly ordered the ‘ popular’ options. The hot and spicy soup was good, however one of the varieties had a lot of Sichuan peppercorns. That has a huge kick/ numb effect on your tongue. The soup broth had a good umami flavor. However, the numb effect and the hotness was too much for us to handle. Overall we couldn’t finish stuff. The bill was much higher and expensive than what we expected. Maybe next time we would invite a Chinese friend with us for guidance.

We popped in having no idea where we were going and ended up being blown away with a great experience. It was almost 8:00PM on a Monday and they were full. The food was not just filling and delicious but the server (Hera I think) was a great guide on what to order. She was patient and attentive. The whole visit was excellent.

I ordered CoCo Mala Tang but received what looked liked Mara Xiangguo (麻辣香锅). The food was good, but it had no soup.

Because this place adds a 15% tip to your order the waiters feel like they dont need to do their job. We were the only table and the waiter forgot our drinks, never came back when we wanted more drinks, well in general just never came around at all after taking our order. We shouldnt have to wander around the building to get a drink multiple times and then pay the guy $25. The food itself was okay, but i would highly recommend going to another hot pot.
