The menu is limited, but the food tastes so good!! I had chicken & rice, which is amazing. They cooked the rice just perfectly. I had beef samosa, which is also delectable. The guy who served me food gave me tea for free. Thank you. The tea tastes like sweetened chai. The place looks humble, but the service is really good.

Delicious food! We stopped here on a weekend trip to Burlington and it was such a good decision. Very friendly and welcoming staff and great food. We ordered the chicken and rice, and the beef with noodles.

Food was really good here. I had the chicken and rice. It was very tasty and did not leave me feeling heavy. I appreciated the kind service as they made me feel very welcomed. I definitely recommend coming here again! My friend who is also a vegetarian enjoyed his coconut stew and rice. This place deserves all the praise!

Went to Burlington for one night and stopped here for dinner. Ordered the classic Somali dish with goat. The goat was phenomenal, and the rice it was served with was seasoned perfectly. The chef also gave us some chicken to try which was delicious. I will definitely come back!!!!

My favorite restaurant in Burlington. I cannot describe how much comfort this food has given me. From the absolutely wonderful, joyful service to the incredibly tasty food. I cannot recommend any where else more. Rip Ahmed Kismayo, may your warm spirit and legacy live through your food and what you have given to this community.

I love this place so much. It doesn’t look like much, but the food is AMAZING and fresh. The staff are also very kind people (giving me extra food for long wait times, accommodating a man who had forgotten his credit card, etc.) The chicken and rice and the samosas are incredible. These people deserve 5 stars

Ahmed was one of the nicest people i have ever interacted with in the food industry. Always went above and beyond to ensure quality and satisfaction. Once when I was working down the road and placed an order near closing time, instead of telling me it was too late they stayed open late just so I could come pick my food up. Incredible service, incredible people.

Amazing food. Never tried this delicacy in flavors… totally different tones. My first thought after looking at the chicken and rice was “oh is sooo red must be unbearably spicy” but actually it turned out to be a flavor punch. Good rice with chicken but super great was chicken stew with rice. I took home their sauces. Both had lemon/lime base but there was something special within them which tasted very fragrant and tingling. Owner was chef himself and very welcoming. They offered us to try their beef samosa and Somali tea….. All items on the menu are worth a try. I would have been their regular customer but sad I don’t live in Vermont!!

Kismayo kitchen is a modern Somali street food style joint. This is by far my favorite place to grab a quick bite in Burlington. Location-wise it is a bit on the outskirts of downtown but it is certainly worth the trip or delivery. Their Philly cheese steak is one of my go-tos on the menu. A nice sub roll stuffed to the brim with beef, some hints of tomato, and a balanced amount of cheese, I’d call it one of their signature dishes. If the samosas haven’t sold out when you’re there, then ordering a couple of those is a must. And if you’re looking for the most authentic Somali experience try one of the rice dishes, which comes with choice of a chicken or vegan stew. And, if you get the chance to interact with the employees, you’ll realize that they are the friendliest kind of people making every meal here feel personalized.
