Such a lovely cozy restaurant with high quality, delicious dishes! It was so yummy I had to go two nights in a row; once with my mom, and I brought my boyfriend back the next night. I love the flat iron steak and their mashed potatoes. The flourless chocolate cake was also amazing! The atmosphere is really warm and cozy as it’s a small place with ~10 tables.

Awesome food, quaint atmosphere and I’m sure it will only get better now that they have a full liquor license! Get in now before it gets too popular!

Small, intimate space with outstanding food. The owner/chef came out to introduce himself. Service was pretty slow paced (one server working alone) but friendly and capable. Mostly just wine and beer, pretty limited liquor selection but they’ll make you a cocktail if they can. Pork shank, a signature dish here, was fantastic.

Love this place! Wife and kids went to dinner on Fri at 530pm. Food is excellent – I had the flat iron steak, wife had cod, kid had pork and other kid had shrimp and grits. Every single item was fantastic. Great quality and cooked to perfection. Decor is kinda French country / shabby chic and very pleasant. My only (minor) suggestion would be to expand the non-alcoholic beer selection. Otherwise don’t change a thing!!

It is so nice when you try a new place and it exceeds expectations! Kettle Black is a charming, cozy restaurant with excellent, excellent food. We went early and it was almost empty, but filled up by the time we left. I had the pan seared cod with char-grilled broccoli and roasted red potatoes. The cod had a crisp delicious outside and cooked to perfection inside. The char-grilled broccoli was phenomenal and was so good I could have made it my main course. The potatoes were halved with a light delicious sauce. My wife and daughter had the chicken breast. Both said it was very good also.

Fun new discovery on Monroe street. Friends had been and highly recommend it. Love the space, simple and clean, yet cozy and private feeling. The menu is simple and very well prices. Was really surprised to see the vines were very reasonably priced, we had a lovely rose to kick things off. The pate and shrimp/grits was such a great way to start the party in our mouths! There is a nice smokey flavor with a tiny kick in those grits. The plate was a nice size, to some it might be small, but as an appetizer, it was perfect for 4 to share along with other apps. Had the steak and pork for the dinner. Left our plates polished. Steak was perfectly seared and cooked. Didn’t quite care for the sweet potatoes that came with it. In a way it’s a nice salty sweet combo, if your palate enjoys that. Had several deserts, they were alright. Not much of a sweets person, but my companions very much enjoyed them. Partial to affogato! Check this place out and enjoy it.

I was so excited to try Kettle Black Kitchen, the menu looked creative, and well balanced. I most happy to see a flat iron steak on the menu. Arrived, had a fantastic bottle of wine and tried a few appetizers. The pate and french onion soup were fabulous appetizers. For dinner We ordered the pork shank and the flat iron steak. Everything came out looking wonderful, but it was all under seasoned and had lackluster flavor. We were very bummed. Took the pork shank home and then went down the street and had a second dinner.

Small menu, but everything is delicious. Can’t go wrong ordering anything of the menu. Pork shank was tender and the meat fell off the bone. Delicious salmon and cod. Nice wine and beer selection. Small dessert menu, but, again, everything was to die for. Will be back.

The Escarole and Beans dish is a flavor explosion! It’s delicious and you absolutely don’t need to be a vegetarian to enjoy this. It brought me back to my trip to Italy where I had a similar dish in Sorrento, which was so good I ate it two days in a row. Kettle Black’s version is just as good, maybe even better. The restaurant is warm and beautifully decorated (we sat under a gorgeous chandelier). Lastly, the service is impeccable. I cannot wait to return.

An absolute gem of a place. The servers are attentive, detail oriented, and clearly like working here. And the food is superb. I got the ratatouille tart, oysters, shrimp & grits, grilled broccoli, and the bean escarole entre. Every plate shined; even the broccoli! Just go. You can thank me later.
