What a hidden gem this place is!! I was looking for a new place to go for my birthday when I stumbled across The Farm Bar & Grille. My husband and I looked online in advance to check out the menu. There were a lot of choices and the prices were reasonable.

We ordered a bunch of trays of food for a BBQ we had recently. Everything was delivered and personally setup and our friends and family were raving about how good the food was! We got a tray of the steak tips, pulled pork, veggies, 1/2 tray of chicken tenders, and slider rolls for the pulled pork. They also graciously provided a personalized tray of pasta primavera for my veggie friends which wasn’t on the menu. A+ on the food and the setup and I would certainly recommend them to cater your event.

My husband and I have been here twice, and both times the service has been poor. We had a different waitress for each visit, and they both seemed to disappear for long periods of time. And since they utilize other employees to run the food, we were left waiting for our waitress to come back to check on us anytime we needed something. The first visit, my husband ordered ribs, and wanted extra napkins before he started eating. We waited 10 minutes after our food had arrived, and eventually my husband had to go to the hostess to ask for them. By that point, I had almost finished eating, and his food was getting cold. During our second visit, we had been done with our appetizer (we hadn’t ordered our meals yet) for 10 minutes before our waitress came back to take our order- meaning we had been left sitting at the table for more than 20 minutes without being checked on by our waitress. And then we waited another 25 minutes for her to come by with the check at the end of the meal. While we were waiting, she was nowhere to be found so we couldn’t even flag her down. A dinner that should have been fairly quick, took nearly 2 hours.

The Farm Bar and Grille is an adorable and somewhat hidden gem in Essex. The building itself is tiny and if I hadn’t come across it on Google maps I’m not sure I would have ever noticed it. I’m so glad I did! The food was wonderfully prepared and the service was really lovely, especially considering there was only one waitress on the floor. *Remember, lots of places are still short-staffed so please be kind!

Very disappointed as I have heard the food is really good here. We had a reservation and were seated. After a half hour with multiple people telling us they would be by soon to take our drink order, nobody ever came and we left. If it was difficult getting someone to take out drink order I can’t imagine how long it would take for our food. Not worth it

Absolute worst service I have ever had. Came here for my wife’s birthday. Waited over 20 minutes for a server to wait on us. Finally had to ask the hostess who our server was and they sent someone else who wasn’t supposed to wait on our table. We just ordered so I really don’t know about the food yet. I am sitting at the table right now writing this review.

I was there Thursday night with a friend. My pulled pork sandwich was dry and tasteless. No bbq sauce as advertised. Just dry pulled pork on a dry toasted roll. Service was almost nonexistent. I ordered sweet potato fries but received regular fries. I wasn’t able to ask to switch for that or the bbq sauce that was supposed to be on there because the waitress ran off after quickly tossing us our orders, and didn’t’t return for about 15-20 minutes. My friend enjoyed her burger, but agreed that service was awful.

Went on burger night, which is Wednesdays. The food is great and the kids said that we have to come back. Kathleen was our server and she is very friendly and accommodating. They have the Maine Beer Company on tap, and it was delicious.

First time coming here and probably the last. Our waitress with the glasses took forever to take our order and she just seemed really off and not familiar with the menu either which was bizarre. I would assume basic training you learn the menu before going on your way to serve tables solo. We also had to keep asking her for our waters as she seemed extremely forgetful and not paying attention to us. Third time we asked and she unapologetically finally brought them. The only positive thing I’ll say is the nachos were very good and the man who brought them to us was professional and friendly.
