Disappointing and, yet again, definitely not New Haven quality. We’ve been Pepe’s fans for decades but we’re spoiled being in New Haven. Unfortunately the Bethesda branch of Pepe’s is certainly not living up to the long standing reputation for incredible pizza.

“I cannot say enough good things about Frank Pepe’s pizza. It is hands down the best pizza I have ever had. The crust is perfectly crispy and charred, with just the right amount of chewiness. The sauce is flavorful and perfectly balanced with the fresh mozzarella cheese. The toppings are always fresh and of high quality. Every time I go to Frank Pepe’s, I am blown away by the amazing taste and quality of the pizza. The service today was significantly better than last time I was there. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. If you’re looking for the best pizza around, you simply have to try Frank Pepe’s. It’s worth every penny.”

Yori was very nice and always made sure our drinks were filled! We got a small coal fired pizza for 2ppl with a small ceaser salad and the pizza was perfectly crispy. I honestly do not know why this place has 4 stars. It’s definitely a 4.7.

There has been some criticism regarding the amount of charing they have on their pies. If that is an issue for you, they warn you up front. But this is what you are paying for a spectacular pizza made in a charcoal oven. I would give more stars if I could. If you like Domino’s and that’s your kind of pizza (and dominos isn’t bad, probably the best chain pizza) this is way different. I traveled 2 hours to try Frank Pepe and it was worth the trip. You folks are lucky to have one in Bethesda. Service at lunch time was spectacular. Super friendly servers, attentive and quick service. Big fan, I will be back.

Ordered a large pizza from them, everything about it was bad. Under seasoned, not well done as requested, the crust when I bit into it was sticky on the teeth. Not even sure how that could happen. Have ordered from them in the past and always been happy. Hoping this experience is a one off and we have a better experience next time.

Came here for the first time and was very impressed. Exactly what you’d expect from Neapolitan pizza with great speciality flavors. The reviewers mentioning “burnt” pizza just don’t know what good pizza is supposed to taste like! The pizzas are also quite large. With a group of six adults we ordered two mediums and had a few pieces to bring home. We ordered the meatball and ricotta as well as the fresh tomato pie and both were delicious. Service was also attentive but not rushed. Will definitely be returning! They also offer a very generous $10 coupon for your first visit!

I have had carryout from Duke Street twice, which was delicious; but eating in was even more delicious with the pie straight out of the oven.

I’m not a fan of pizza made in the US. Pies fluctuate from a minimalist approach (paper-thin crust, almost no sauce or toppings) to the pizza-on-steroids versions floating around (such as the Chicago-style deep dish, everything-but-the kitchen sink approach).

Pizza here is pretty good with fresh ingredients. When you have fresh ingredients on a pizza that make a huge difference. Maybe because it was Friday night, we got dirty fork and knife. Also the men’s bathroom did not have any soap left. I wonder when was the last time their staff have clean hands. It’s sad when they focusing on great food, but they did not focusing on the little stuffs that also matter too.
