I remember this place having the best convert sandwiches. I feel like that sized could’ve been bigger, maybe just a bit more meat or a bigger slice of bread. I asked for it toasted with Swiss my cheese wasn’t even melted, they put way to much mustard, the flavor was okay. The service was good. Over I give them a 3 because I wasn’t wowed!

Deli’s and restaurants display distinct rhythms in their day-to-day service, and occasionally, as it is with Jake’s Deli, the rhythm feels historic, almost spiritual, and essential to the sandwich itself. I park my car across the street from an old red brick building common in Milwaukee but out of place on this particular street. A sign that reads “Jake’s Delicatessen Since 1955” hangs from the second floor. I walk inside to find my friends sitting in a church pew-like wooden booth under a wall full of black and white photos boasting of the landmarks’ history. I place my order – the highly recommended Corned Beef sandwich with a side of chips – and watch the rituals of the room. They call my name, and over the next 60 seconds I witness the perfect sandwich exchange, one which all beloved locales should mimic. A distracted man in a dirty white apron drops a foil wrapped brick of flavor into a brown paper bag alongside enough napkins to clothe a toddler and hands it across the glass counter without ever making eye contact with me. I’m not special; I’m one of thousands of customers he’s served, and he has his carnivorous art to return to. Ten feet to my left, the other aproned man is complaining about something unimportant with a friend of his who walked in just after me. It felt local, felt like home, felt like a destination that generations of fathers have taken their sons to with an excitement that their boy only understood in retrospect as an adult. This is sandwich culture. It’s not as friendly as the overly popular coffee culture or as clean, but it’s genuine and unassuming.

Toasted corned beef was delicious. Very fast. Pricier than expected, but kind of worth it.

Not good. Reuben was one of the worst I’ve ever had. Corned beef was 80 percent fat, bread was soggy, Swiss cheese was weirdly rubbery. Broccoli cheese soup was sour for some reason, guessing it was old. I’m not a review person but the food here from this one experience was really bad.

I thought this place had one of the better pastrami sandwiches in Milwaukee! Very juicy, great cuts of meat, toasted perfectly. I would have preferred some Russian dressing instead of brown mustard but it was fantastic anyways. Also the fries were incredible. Bit pricy though.

Really good corn beef Philly sandwich which is generous in portion, fresh and well seasoned. Top it up with cheese, pickles and paprika, it was magical! This place was recommended by my chef brother in law and his fine dining restaurateur buddies so we had to check it out. It did not disappoint!

My absolute favorite Diner to get Cornbeef sandwiches. Hands-down the best. Even with the new owner you kind of expect changes but food is still amazing as ever.

I treated my father and he said “the sandwiches are not like how they used to be” I really enjoyed my burnt ends Sandwich. Corn beef not so much. But it was good.

Just went to Jake’s and it’s not the same Jakes that I’m used to. I paid $18 for pastrami sandwich and they cook the seasoning out the meat. The meat has no flavor. Pastrami is a highly flavored meat so it definitely was not a great experience. I didn’t feel like a value customer the energy of the place is depressing.

This was the place to go for corned beef. Sad to say the food had little flavor. The service is good, but I don’t think I’ll return
